Thank you, you articulated that better than I could. I've used a wide range of CAD software over the years, and they're often a clunky mess. OpenSCAD is something I'd like to explore but if I could achieve much the same outco

You can view the source of each node in Blender, but that’s not the point. Writing a script is not fundamentally different form connecting nodes in geometry nodes and entering attributes. What I’m asking is how do the output and performance

How does this compare to the new Geometry Nodes in Blender? The flexibility of what people are producing in Blender 3.0 is staggering.

Paint is not infrastructure. I regularly cycle to work clocking up about 200km a week. Entitlement, aggression and abuse by motorists has a major impact on the numbers of people cycling. Segregated cycle routes are essential.

You don’t need compressible flow to generate lift. Any basic inviscid (Euler) 2D incompressible solver can be used to calculate lift. For drag you need to resolve the boundary layer and solve Navier Stokes.

It was cleaved off AT&T as part of Lucent and then merged with Alcatel. Part of the problem there was that it was never clear if Lucent merged with Alcatel or if Alcatel acquired Lucent. The whole company was pretty dysfunctional but no

I worked in Bell Labs from 2012 to 2018, unfortunately then it was a shadow of its former self. The MBAs had taken over. While there Weldon tried to pivot the place from being ‘like twitter’ to an incubator to a like a startup. He got an Ap

I’ve watched several of these now. What’s incredible is how they expose the entitlement of those illegally parking and how quickly they lie and exaggerate rather that admit fault. It’s exactly how it unfolds here when some driver nearly kil

That’s a nine year old tablet. It’s far from useless just because it runs iOS 10. My partner’s mother has an old iPad mini from the same year and it’s perfect for FaceTime calls. It’s basically an iPad 2 SoC. I wouldn’t do any personal bank

We’ve a massive problem here in Western Europe (UK and Ireland) with people parking on the footpath (sidewalk). They’ll put all four wheels up blocking the passage all pedestrians rather than use their driveway or a legal space. Unfortunate

It’s hard. In the case of final year students they just need to do enough to get by. This usually means finding something in the project description that they can actually do or are motivated to do. Sometimes you need to have a talk about w

Most perpetual motion machine inventors think like engineers with some understanding of Newtonian mechanics. So practical stuff like gears and pulleys and magnets. Thinking at the scale of a black hole isn’t usually their area.

We’re not talking merely scavenging energy here. We’re taking about a perpetual motion machine that gives more out than you put in. I feed it 1 W and I get maybe 1.000000001 W out. Maybe it’s big and cumbersome but the principle, if like al

You can fumble as much as you like. It doesn’t matter how crazy your vast ostentatious space palace is or how inefficient it is, you have infinite energy. You therefore have infinite compute. You won’t even need to think.

I’m always amazed how little ambition proponents of perpetual motion machines have. They always talk about not having to pay their energy bill or charge their smartphone ever again. Here in Ireland we had Steorn[0] which resulted in much am
