I’m Irish. We had a similar gypsy group in this country commonly referred to as Travellers and to say that there is utter hatred of them by the general populace is an understatement. The division between communities is extreme. It’s difficu

If I do any simple math calculation in Spotlight it pegs all cores at 100%. Its easily reproducible and really annoying because I've used spotlight as a calculator for years.

They showed this during the previous transition announcement. They flashed up a screen of various open source tools that they’ve tested. It even included Blender. Here is the image: http://www.cgchannel.com/wp-content/u

I’ve moved from a 5D mkIII to an R5. The autofocus is extremely impressive, the biggest win however is not the focusing performance but the coverage. The 5D, and most SLRs, cluster the PDAF points in the middle of the frame where as the mir

I’ve always used Spotlight on my Macs for quick calculations. Just use CMD space and throw in an equation or unit conversion, get back to the task at hand and jump back into Spotlight and edit, it’s simple and streamlined. However, Catalina

That’s not exactly a selection pressure. It would seem likely that there is no selection pressure here but in fact greater genetic diversity due to overall better survival of more and more people. Perhaps those that developed differently to

We use OpenFOAM for a lot of our CFD needs in my University’s Engineering department. Most students have Windows laptops. When it comes to final year projects (especially in COVID times where we can’t guarantee lab access) WSL has proven ve

No sign of it here yet. I’m curious if it fixed some of the unpleasant behaviour and bugs that were never fixed in iOS 13. Things like Mail not displaying new emails properly unless your went out and back into the mailbox. The keyboard auto

It’s nowhere near as good tho. You frequently have to type the name of the entire utility. On MacOS I can open Disk Utility by using CMD space to open Spotlight and type du. I can do this all as one single shortcut without even looking. On

Look at the Steamlink debacle. That time the excuse was about buying games through the app (even though you can buy games on the main steam app) and not about what content you stream from your computer to your iOS device.

I’ve a 10 bay system populated with 4TB drives that I use as a dumb data dump in RAID6. They’re okay systems, but as others have said they come with a lot of useless complexity. At a previous job had an 8 bay system that had a dodgy backpla

I started using Blender around 2013 when we needed to make some exciting animations for a work project. I quickly grew to love it for its streamlined Jack of all trades approach to media creation and it’s breathtaking pace of development.
