There are actually corner cases here, although that’s not what usually comes up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex Just a reminder that often reality is more complicated than we think. Names, numbers and upper

I wonder if there is some nuance to this. I think most people are killed by someone they know, which I guess is most likely to be by your own race. So of the people killed by strangers maybe the statistics are different?

CCP wants Taiwan to claim to be China as then it is seen as an internal struggle between two Chinese factions. So the CCP takeover of the island becomes reunification. If Taiwan calls itself Taiwan and develops a separate identity at some p

Actually no, not calling it republic of China would make the other China angry. Taiwan would like to call itself Taiwan.

That's quite a coincidence, two of the genre defining games when I was growing up was made by two people with the same name :-)

:-) Sorry for the mistake. I also love Fallout, but not so much the later ones. I played Fallout 1 and 2 a lot, but never enjoyed the recent ones so much. I guess I am too old to enjoy the latest trends.

The argument is that due to the paradox new solar capacity only increases demand, and so will be an additional burden. I don't think this is true, if solar is truly cheaper than it will drive out the more expensive power plants, but I

I was going to make a general comment about this too. It’s a huge penalty for Java too and has no correlation for how well it performs outside of toy benchmarks

I think the main argument is a bit different. If two characters played by Julia Roberts and Matt Damon are talking and someone walks over and says "wow you must be Julia Roberts!", why do they not also say "and man you look l

I think legality still matters. But more importantly it is a joke to compare the situation in Catalonia with that of Hong Kong. It’s not like we see trains full of people on the way to torture in concentration camps leaving Barcelona.

I support the Catalan movement as I believe in all people’s right to self determination but that is fundamentally different. Catalonia does not have a legal right to just break free from Spain. It would also be difficult for any country if

That is conflating two types of good intentions. One is that the writers have did intentions for society (what the parents means) or that they are good for a little group who write them. I don’t think anyone believes tax cuts for the riches

You are right and this is will know, but not only for the reason you state. Cache locality is so much better on an array/vector compared to linked list and that is really important.

Yeah, the key issue is energy. If we have unlimited energy we can deal with climate change in so many ways. Unless there is a full energy accounting it is just useless at this point.

Isn't part of the reason people are spending on iPhone that they can signal wealth to friends? From what I remember Apple always sells more when then introduce new golden colors so people can show they have the new device.
