Just to state the obvious, the common factor in all your 1x1's have been you. I have no idea about you, so in very general terms to have them be unreasonably effective there needs to be preparation and input from both sides. Even if no

But you might as well just install an adblocker instead? It is free and there are no ads. They can block people who are using adblocker from watching, as long as they don't do that I can't really see any moral grey area here.

OK I see they do this every 5 years so it should not be that extreme (I only hold it in various tax sheltered accounts now). One step further is to hold the index funds and bonds yourself, that is not exactly rocket science. I would also sa

I don't think so, if there is a gun the police is coming with guns. That is true even in Norway. Once you start waving around a gun or something that looks like a gun with some threats as well you will be taken seriously. With one very

I have lived in NYC and Bay area. Both times safe places in those areas. And sure I have never seen a crime happen. But very close to me (like 15 min of walking), there are major armed crimes happening. There are enough guns and people will

The system can only be changed by the current political parties, so at the very least you need to build a coalition to change the system.

That is exactly why it is stupid, if you force people to pick sides they will pick the police. I don't really love them, but I also don't want them gone and would not feel safe with no police. I am super left wing, but if you forc

I guess I explained myself really poorly, but I think we mean the same here. To be clear what I mean is that somehow making ipv4 work is much harder than migrating to ipv6. And clearly terraforming Mars is insanely harder than terraforming

Norway just removed jury duty, and if I remembered correctly the last case that had jury duty the actual judges put the jury verdict aside as they all agreed the jury had misunderstood the law. Of course judges are not always good as well.

If you remove any jurors with history of abuse, do you not remove all the people that have life experience that could be relevant? With a jury of only lets say strong white males that have never been abused or abuse adjacent, but have had s

Someone once told me this joke, why does the dog suck his genitals? Because he can. Same with Apple, of course they will do this as long as they can. There is no moral or ethical reason why they are doing this, simply they can get away with

Right, we have to make energy usage more efficient, and at the same time make it seem less efficient to consumers by adding a tax in between. Like most of Europe does with car fuel. If you want the market to solve the problem you need to gi

One of the examples inside Google was similar, I think it was the ordering of the keys in a Python map (that has no documented behavior). Some upgrade changed it from stable to random and a bunch of tests started failing.
