"Deeply breath out and then breathe in" It's hard to breathe in vacuum and I doubt that current layoffs will fill it (unless we are in a long recession). Next breath in can be very expensive.

Yeah, Elastic also brings advanced aggregates and filters, Kibana, nice UI where you can explore data and create dashboards easily and tons of bigger and smaller features. But in some areas both products are comparable.

The anthropomorphisation of the ML baffles me. This is not AI but a large ML model trained on often proprietary data. The whole discussion is ridiculous. There should be a lineage of model data so we should know what's the original sou

Banks are obliged by regulations to have AML/AF/suspicious operation checks. Any attempt to make a transfer to Binance ends with a blocked transaction and a call from the bank, at least in some Polish banks. Crypto is a can of wor

I met an old colleague and during a chit-chat he said that he diverted into COBOL world. It turned out that the community is quite large, new versions are rolled out frequently and there's a demand for new devs. Looks like there's

Absolutely not related with the issue: apt started to print some Reddit reference on the screen. I know, not everything has to be serious, but come on, when I deploy an image to a customer I would prefer not to see some random messages.

nftables are now supported so one hassle less, bump up the kernel. I also use Docker in WSL2 to keep Windows clean. I love this setup.

Async/await with futures/tasks/promises is really useful. Having async build in a language simplifies code and reduces boilerplate. Of course it introduces function "colors" as some say, but that's a good trade

Bunch of companies migrate their stack to Kubernetes or other orchestrators (side effect of moving to microservices even when not needed) so you are safe and in demand for long.

It's like code completion on steroids, still lacks depth and detail. It can create code mashup and glue it perfectly in no time, so it's worth a lot as most of the dev work looks like that. So I predict that it will be a standard

There's no 100 ms. Current generation made a huge leap forward. Controller and whole input stack add 2-8 ms. TVs with 120Hz, VRR and low latency mode add 6-10ms in 4k HDR (no idea about DolbyVision HDR).
