I'm a longtime fan of Nicholson Baker's work since I first read The Mezzanine. His close attention to detail and his careful choice of words really impressed me.

He really set the tone for the late 90s/early 00s, everyone wanted to copy his style (me included) but few had the chops. I definitely didn't!

Not the commenter you asked but I inherited my mother's sewing machine and decided to make a ball cap by seam ripping apart one that was wearing out but fit really well. I traced the pieces onto new fabric (waxed cotton) and reused the

That's interesting - I always assumed that "shoddy" and "slipshod" were related since their meanings are so similar, but apparently not! Thanks for leading me to that definition.

I remember going on a walk in London with my dad when I was little and we ended up in Hyde Park (this is late 1970s). There was a sign that said 'no dumping" which he chuckled at and explained to me the slang term 'dump'

My gf and I went to Ronda in Spain a few years ago and stopped at the amazing bridge over the gorge. Looked around for a few minutes and then spotted a mother cat leading her litter of kittens through a field down below. We watched them, e

Ironically I find "legibility" to be a real train wreck of a word to read. Not just in this font (although I do find the shorter ascenders difficult) but as a word, generally.

You might enjoy Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban, which is a post apocalyptic novel set in Kent. It's doesn't fit the definition of Ergodic but it's a cracking read anyway.
