I've been looking for something like this / thinking of developing a light-weight, similar tool.

If at some point you have a cycle, you can then reparent and remove the cycle, right? This structure in general then can encode transitive relations effectively? Something like “a and b …” “b and c …” “c and a …”.

I was reading and laughing, wondering if HN was taking this seriously. It’s a decent logo IMO (though I think it’s unpopular) but obviously the paper is filled to the brim with complete bullshit, LOL. The Pepsi galaxy at the end is what rea

You’re right. That makes sense. I’ve been out of web dev for about 4 years so I’m just reactionary now I guess.

I don't know why but front-end terminology always makes me cringe. I know it's useful jargon. I don't know why I have a visceral distaste for them. Maybe because it feels like taking a small, simple thing and making it seem l

"Prop drilling". So many buzzwords. SSR, Hydration, Tree shaking, Hot module reload. How has web development gotten here? It just seems to have evolved so much needless complexity to me. Don't forget about web components! Int

Personally I'd like to see more of the triumphing and less of the "shock appeal" adversity in much modern media.

You're right. It's a low-effort, cheap way to add "authenticity" to a work without putting in the effort to construct a relevant allegory or something else whose "authenticity" is born out of its elucidation of

Sometimes I get the feeling that those who aren't "suffering" are now condemned as "privileged", completing negating the essence of humanism and liberalism; it's a crime to be _seen_ as living a happy life (whi

This is wild. I had no idea the game was like this. Now I’m feeling inspired to finish that browser strategy game I started a few years ago.

It’s certainly a privilege to be generous, almost by definition; you have to _have_ in order to _give_, abstractly. Whether the currency is in the form of self-esteem, wealth, status, etc. One of the most important things I’ve learned as I’

I’m not a scientist, but wouldn’t it make sense for standard practice to be to assume at first that there’s a shared variable (that you have introduced) and to look for it until you’re certain the things you’re plotting are independent? Of

That’s what I was thinking; if the average is about constant all you’ve shown is that everyone is bad at self-assessment (another issue - not fully qualifying a distribution by just using the average loses information). But a comment above

I think one of the articles shared here recently mentioned that dogs are the best animal proxy model for understanding mental illness due to their similarity to humans. Dogs' domestication is the oldest by far of any living mammal. I b

I think a web browser is particularly suited to a large number of developers, like an OS, since it has so many components from different threads of software development (networking, parsing, JS + WASM Engine, layout & graphics, text sha

I'm certain there is plenty of ability out there; the components of a browser span many types of software (networking, parsing, graphics, text shaping, font rendering, JS and WASM execution engines, GUI), so from the get-go it would be

I wonder why people haven’t made a stand-alone game using the creation kit. I assume it’s not allowed in the ToS. But aside from that there would be nothing stopping you from creating a game from scratch with your own data files, right?
