I replied to your other post but I’d also like to say: there is too much of a focus IMO on getting in to the “good” schools right out of HS. I remember a genius physics grad TA I had who went from community college to the UIUC graduate phys

Plus without a patent it would be very easy to capitalize on this without compensating the guy for all the research and tuning his put into it. I think patents are ideal for new ideas that are super easy to steal/copy, right? Sure Acad

That latency really is the killer. The web needs a fast UI layer separate from the DOM. I’m waiting for WebGPU to roll out and build a UI library on top of it, forgoing the DOM. But then this is just another “hack”. I wish the web had somet

Well, there are a number of “selling points” to electron/NW.JS or similar: reuse JS code/skills/libraries (npm) to build desktop apps; use Node.JS to build desktop apps; cross-platform. It clearly lowered the barrier and from

As others mentioned, you could add to the plethora of HN browser extensions. Another idea would be to allow people to specify an avatar in their bio and load it in, though that would entail a lot of web requests I guess. Also, I just realiz

The mall in my town is 75% empty, and frequented mostly by older "mall walkers" such as my father, who does four laps a day. Was still cool when I was in high school (circa 2012). I have no idea how they're still open even af
