As a software developer my brain is one thing I certainly don't trust, the brains of others I trust even less. That's exactly why we put things like tests and code reviews in place. Still despite our best efforts our software is full of def

Good point about the 3rd party libraries there, it's true that even if you do your own cleanup after manual mallocs, you can't do much about theirs. Do you have an example of documentation that shows how to configure malloc to do some clean

One problem with it is that on most compilers if you compile with optimizations it will remove the assertion. Now the code is no longer guarded against malloc failures and will just segfault. If the intent is to teach people how to handle m

Yes, it uses a modified clang binary with which you compile your program. I don't really see the disadvantage of not being able to debug within in the runtime. The class of errors this analyzer is meant to adress is stuff like use after fr

Sorry, I think I broke your site. I realized based on one of the comments here that you seem to be running a persistent interpreter and then just running the code snippets. So I decided to see what would happen if I changed one of them... S

Have you thought about combining your work with Kenneth Reitz's Python Guide? https://github.com/kennethreitz/python-guide It looks like you're covering a lot of the same ground.

Doesn't mean humans have to do it. When using vim for git commit messages it wraps them to 74 characters for me.

A bit of a nitpick, but it would be nice if the facts were PEP8 compliant so they encouraged good code style as well as showing off Python features.

Who cares about the justification. The major problem with it is that the behaviour is unpredictable. You have no idea what is going to happen when you push that button for a given app. In some apps, they'll go full screen. A browser might r

It depends what you are doing, if you just need a keyboard then I think your ordering makes perfect sense. However, for an expressive instrument to be used as a sound synthesizer, I would definitely put it well above any inexpensive keyboar

Funny you should mention MIDI keyboards. Many musicians are now seriously using iPads to play music. For a good example check out ProjectRnL on YouTube. They use a bunch of apps, some developed by Jordan Rudess (keyboard virtuoso and keyboa

In my opinion the big difference here is that a compromised Dropbox key would give the malicious app access to data it wouldn't normally be able to access. A stolen Twitter API key just lets the app act as any other Twitter app does, there'

I understand that, but what keeps someone from pulling your key and secret out of your app and creating a trojan app? For example the app could look like your app, use the same key and secret, still authenticate as the user, but then steal

Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't the way the app authentication works preclude it from being used for client-side apps? For example in https://www.dropbox.com/developers/start/authentication#pyth... you set both APP_KEY and APP_SE

Since you can focus at arbitrary points in the photo after the fact it should not be a huge stretch to make software that allows you to change the depth of field. Macro photographers already deal with this by using focus stacking.

Facebook could make data removable by users if they engineered their site to allow that. The problem is that they haven't, and it appears they've in fact done the opposite. We need data protection laws like this to put the onus on the servi

I don't know how anyone could reasonably anticipate an iPhone with a larger screen. From what I can tell, the resolution of the OS is effectively fixed and layout is done with pixels. A larger screen would mean lower DPI if the same resolut
