They're not really directly comparable. GlusterFS implements standard POSIX semantics and is directly mountable on a client. On the backend it can use another file system (ext, XFS, etc) where it actually stores the data. It's highly config

Don't wait. Jenkins is literally one of the easiest pieces of web service software you could possibly set up. All you need to do to try it is download a jar file and run java -jar jenkins.jar. That's it! I run it on my personal computer. I

Well, I guess it just goes to show that everyone gets something else out of reading a book and categorizing them using sweeping generalizations isn't a good idea :)

I wouldn't stick Dune solely in the second category. It has a great deal of social commentary, and touches on a number of environmental and ethical issues. Herbert simply went to great lengths to create an extremely detailed world in which

I still don't really see how it would help with heat dissipation overall. Most low power desktop CPUs seem to run at around 45W these days. If you stacked 10 of them, presumably you'd get somewhere around 450W. 100 of them would give you 4.

On the other hand, Purolator will happily redirect your package to the nearest Purolator depot out in the boondocks. Out by the airport or in a distant industrial park in my case... it's almost like they want you to waste your time.

Where do you draw the line? I think everyone starts with something of their own before getting investor money, eg: clothes, a computer, travel expenses. What's the cutoff? $100? $1000? etc

Theoretically in a strongly and statically typed language like Haskell shouldn't it be possible to fix the safe/unsafe string problem by having separate a string type for unsanitized input? Not that I've tried this approach myself, but I'd

Worse yet, on my iPhone 3G I can't get the code from the Authenticator app and then log on to the Google+ app before it expires... it's just too slow :/

In our case our company is in an industry (biotech) that traditionally doesn't seem to attract a lot of developers. Most of the developers I know in my network are either game or web app developers. When we have openings they're usually rel

"The problem is that no one wanted to use them so they were gradually phased out of the UI." That basically says to me that not enough emphasis was placed on designing the site around the feature. I think that's what Google's done right in

Couldn't the app use your username / password to connect to github the first time and then generate an SSH key pair which it would use from that point forward? That seems like the best compromise of security and easy of use to me.

You need to learn about registers. You can copy between windows and even use your OS's clipboard via Vim. Normally y is used to yank. However, you can prefix it with "x to yank in to register x. Then you can "xp to paste from register x. Yo

I don't understand your recommendation to get rid of views when possible. There is nothing particularly slow about views in Postgres, nor is there anything particularly optimized about them. They act mostly like any other query, except they
