As a software developer my brain is one thing I certainly don't trust, the brains of others I trust even less. That's exactly why we put things like tests and code reviews in place. Still despite our best efforts our software is full of defects. From the non-software perspective human brains make big mistakes all the time. Consider car accidents, gross errors in judgement, etc.
