So if the plans are named after increasingly deadly things the crane is the least deadly? I guess I could see that.

This is great because if you watch Heroku outages the shared database is down more than anything else. Now my staging environment will be up as often as production.

I was surprised that having less part numbers wasn't one of the counter-arguments the author included. Because Apple has so few products it makes their supply and distribution chains more efficient. The economies of scale are a huge part of

I really like how most applications in the iOS store have been about upgrades. When a new version comes out I get it automatically without paying. Camera+ is a great example. Because the user base for the platform has been growing the poten

It's interesting to see how close the KBB value mirrors the Craigslist price. I'm guessing the only negotiation points are the condition of the car. Thanks for the helpful post, I'm about to sell my car.

Jobs left Apple in 1985, the Newton started development in 1987. John Scully was the executive excited about the Newton. Even though it was profitable, Jobs killed it on his return. I haven't heard a story like that but if I were to guess i

http://www.apartmentlist.com has most of those features. Plus it adds a recommender to help you sort through your search. It doesn't scrape Craigslist so the quality of the apartments is really high, and it still has 1.9 million of them.

While there are problems with SimpleGeo (neighborhood misspellings in San Fran, GeoIP that isn't very complete, polygons that represent political boundaries and not geo boundaries, etc) it is a useful and affordable service that we use all

It's meant as a humorous reference to all the content creation v. consumption talk when the iPad came out. http://allthingsd.com/20110302/so-tablets-arent-for-content-... Not everything has to be serious.

This is a great writeup. The only thing I would add is that if you are a startup and you don't have press contacts a PR firm is a huge help. We launched http://www.ApartmentList.com at Disrupt and got a similar response as Trello did beca

Lots of Pud hitting the homepage lately. I'm not complaining, just noticing. I wonder if this portends the end of the boom ala fuckedcompany.com. Meh, probably not.

I think impossible to market without daily deals is hyperbolic. Ghost tours of SF's China town have been around and successful for decades if not more without Groupon. Along with classes on tea appreciation, Red Blossom does great ones.

This is a very well balanced look at daily deals. I think it goes to show that there will be a place for daily deals in the future but that it's not going to change how everyone does business. The businesses that it does help will continue

Doesn't it seem like the guy who claims this happened could be lying? His story did change once the SFPD said it wasn't them.

As someone that moved to the bay area from Miami 6 years ago 138% sounds about right to me. Comparing apples to apples you would need to compare Biscayne, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables in Miami to SF. Those neighborhoods are $1,000 to $2,000
