Not that it makes any kind of difference for a tiny personal homepage, but I recently added just that on mine: https://github.com/kiliankoe/kilian.io/blob/master/index.htm...

That's cool, thanks! But there's no way to hide the normal tab bar, is there?

Where does Safari have vertical tabs? I've been using Orion for a while now mainly for that feature, a WebKit browser with well working vertical tabs.

If you're looking to get started using Matrix, but have no contacts to bootstrap it with, you can look into bridges to other networks or using something like beeper.com with hosted, well-supported bridges. Disclaimer: I work @ Beeper

I used to run the boot partition from the SD card and everything else over a mounted USB flash drive. That seemed to work quite ok for a long time, but maybe I just got lucky.

My (grossly over-simplified) experience has been that European services tend to focus a lot more on localization than US-based ones, with the latter focusing a lot more on time zone issues, since that is a topic very relevant to the US. Not

There's definitely not a legal limit for what can be paid in cash in Germany. Withdrawals or deposits of several thousand euros might lead to banks looking into it to prevent money laundering and there are stores who refuse to accept c

I believe y4mi was referring to screen reading software, not a physical device. Like VoiceOver on macOS.

Notion uses magic links only for their login and it's aggravating. It may be nice for some users, but using my password manager's autofill is much faster than going to my inbox and clicking a link.

Even though it still triggers an export, this behavior has gotten a lot better in Mojave. Whereas previously one could only really drop images on Finder windows (Desktop counts as well) it now works in many different applications. Not quite

Reposts are great, but I also enjoy comments linking to previous discussions. It's nice to have a look at what was said before.

This is a feature of the iOS podcast player Overcast. Marco Arment calls it SmartSpeed. It's also neat that the app tells you how much time this feature has saved you.

Try substituting other symbols, which makes it easier to see. 1 for ( and 0 for ) for example. Then we have 1010 and 1001

I was recently dumbfounded by the fact that ()() is not a palindrome, but ())( is. It's obvious, sure, but it still doesn't look right.

Minor fyi, it doesn't matter if the bang comes at the beginning of the query. You can save the keystroke when refining to fall back to google and just throw it to the end of the query.

Docker has a few more upsides than just bundling an app with its dependencies, orchestration being one of them. Also, a go app wouldn't have to be cross-compiled for whatever architecture as long as Docker runs there. Go makes that eas

How is something that doesn't publish an RSS feed even considered a podcast? I hate how there's "Spotify only" "podcasts" now. If I can't subscribe to a feed in a client of my choice, it's not a podca

Just want to add onto this that pretty much everything Wire makes is open source. The backend (written in Haskell no less, which continues to amaze me), the desktop app and the mobile apps.

It applies to all EU citizens, no matter where your operations are based. It would make sense though for most companies to just treat everybody as an EU citizen for GDPR. Unless apparently you're Facebook and don't want to...
