I think this [0] is worth reading before starting a project in julia (it's quite shocking). Does anyone know if anything has changed in julia's development process over the last year? [0] http://danluu.com/julialan

It's quite funny actually: "The Japanese text incorporated in the brand's logo—極度乾燥(しなさい) (kyokudo kansō (shinasai)?)—literally translates as "Maximum dry (please do)", the text in brackets being due to the translat

Why would you discard metadata? What I'm saying is you should be able to extract it to a separate file when converting to ff. You're right about bzip and tar, but that just adds one extra step.

If I understand correctly farbenfeld is designed for processing images, not storing them. And if you bzip a farbenfeld image you might as well do it with a separate json file for metadata.

Why not store metadata as a separate json files? This way you could have something like this: ff2jpeg --metadata image_metadata.json < image.ff > image.jpeg

I feel the same about coding on dark backgrounds. Code is text and I find it much easier to read on a white background.

They do, but it's removed in post processing :) I like how movie-like GTA V feels and things like that help to achieve this effect.

Yes, we get it, but it's still wrong and irrelevant. Not all of those games use 3D engines (Shovel Knight?) and I'm pretty sure not all of them even use a 3D API. But even when they do, they're still 2D games with 2D based ga

It's irrelevant, some of those games were ported to other systems where they don't use OpenGL/DX. It's an implementation detail.

Why is writing a compiler in C a premature optimization? Ignoring performance is just bad approach to writing software. And "premature optimization" phrase is overused, even when it's not relevant to the discussion.

Why? Compilation times are quite important, and writing a fast compiler is easier to achieve in C than in most other languages.

You do realise that computer science is not programming? Yes, it's impossible to get a msc in computer science without some programming knowledge, but a university is not a job training centre.
