You’d think a short extract would be enough for SEO and then hide the full article behind the paywall server side.

One bit of misinformation in the article, I believe: > Not valid, since gdpr applies to eu citizens everywhere, regardless of where they live. This isn’t correct. GDPR applies to people IN the European Union, not their citizenship [0] [0

I guess it would be pretty easy in postgres to create a sequence per repository and have the field use the next value in the sequence (i.e. like it normally does for auto incrementing IDs but where you'd specify the sequence to use at

Fully agree. For example, it's very handy that GitHub issues are auto incrementing integers starting at 1, so that I can type "Fixes #123" in a commit message instead of "Fixes #<some-uuid-or-something>". Of c

What other signals are available on iOS across applications provided that you don’t do something that invites tracking (like logging in with FB, etc)?

Jupyter notebooks are really abysmal when it comes to best engineering practices. There's an amazing talk called "I don't like notebooks" by Joel Grus at last years JupyterCon [0]. I highly recommend it. [0] https:/

Perhaps a GDPR takeout request could answer this? Provided they’re doing things by the book.

In the case of Waffle, I always thought it was quite a clever name. Their product is a grid of issues. Waffles are a grid of little squares of deliciousness. Works for me.

This brings back fond memories as writing a lisp interpreter in prolog was the final project for my survey of programming languages course in university. Didn’t know people would still be doing it 20 years later.

Looks like a good start! One comment though - if I correctly understand how you’re using “serverless” in this case (which I believe is literal - the whole thing resides in the browser), isn’t this just an implementation detail? It’s great f

I think a description of why canvas was used would be nice in the README. My (probably naive) view is that browsers are pretty good at table-ish layouts so it’d be great to know why canvas was chosen.

I think of Segment kind of like a routing layer for behavioral tracking data. Rather than installing N trackers on your site, you just add Segment's and then in your configuration for Segment you tell them where to route the tracking e

While a certain amount of snark may be justified I’m pretty sure we can assume the author is aware their is more than one browser. Are you aware of browsers that don’t interpolate as described?

Several times I’ve been in need of a nice way to build automated/smoke tests for an email signup process. This looks like a nice solution (particularly with the GraphQL subscription API). Anyone used this service yet?

Yeah, that was my reaction as well. I fully understand his point regarding ORMs that are meant to be an abstraction over a relational database, but imposing the relational model over non-relational datastores sounds like a disaster.

Yeah, I'm left wondering the same thing. Apple's Intelligent Tracking Prevention (version 2 of which will ship in Safari/iOS 12 in September[0]) uses some sort of ML-based solution to decide what is and what is not a tracker,
