+1 for Bitwarden! Switched to it somewhat over a year ago from LastPass after I read up on LastPass’ ‘security’. The only thing I dislike about Bitwarden is that on their iOS app it sometimes takes a while (>30s) to load the search funct

I use Threema which doesn’t need a phone number or an email address.

Strictly speaking that’s not quite true. A user can upload playlist covers and a text description for that playlist. Both the image and text could fall under copyright. In 2013/2014 Ministry of Sound sued Spotify over not removing play

German here; MasterCard and Visa are accepted almost everywhere even the smallest shop usually offers contactless payments (tap). Amex on the other hand is a rarity and you should expect that it doesn’t work.

I'd suggest adding some sort of message for people with JavaScript disabled. Currently it just looks weird when JS is disabled.

This is what I’d like! You could maybe offer a cloud save feature (for users who want that) like Duck Duck Go does for settings. When the user wants to save something they enter some phrase/password/whatever with which they can la

Mistakes are what we learn from! 1) I like to have things in my own hand. On one hand It’s about having control over who could possibly have access to my mails. If I were using Gmail for example I’d have to put up with data mining and the e

Now I'm starting to doubt your reading comprehension.. I explicitly said I don't blame Namecheap except for not sending me some notification and for that one service agent who told me he wasn't authorized to answer my questio

It's certainly something to keep in mind. But there are problems with a similar outcome that could arise by using a third party provider like Gmail. They could suspend your account for example which is far more unlikely to happen with

Thanks for pointing that out, it wasn't clear to me who's responsible for that price. I added your comment as a footnote to the relevant sentence. [1] But no matter who's responsible I think it's not right to ask someone

No, I have my own mail server and don't do automatic spam filtering (not enough volume that I could be bothered to set it up yet).

I don’t like when someone else has access to my emails. In my case only my hoster, whom I trust, has access to my server and thus mails.

No I’m not, as I said in the article: > Please note that I do not know if Namecheap or DENIC is responsible for setting this price.

I thought about that before posting but I see no reason why anyone would want to even try. I didn’t want to pay Namecheap’s fee so it’s quite clear I wouldn’t buy it from someone else either. Worst case I have to get a new domain..

Inconceivable! Not a native speaker so it could be wrong. In German we have the word ‘Wucher’ which dict.cc translated to usury. It’s generally used when someone makes an excessive profit by exploiting someone else’s weaker position. The Ge

Thanks for the input! I heard good things about MM and would love to use them but I’m not exactly their target audience. I’d prefer an EU based registrar, any suggestions there? As soon as I have my domain back (or a new one) I’ll definitel

You can easily do that. If you wanted to exclude example.com just add -example.com to your search query.

Alright so I got around to testing this out (on elementary OS 5.0 Juno). I found it utterly impractical to use for anything more than 1k ebooks. The biggest problem is that on startup bookworm loads all book covers one after another. It tak

Outline.com is great if you stumble upon some article you do want to read. Just put in the URL and it’ll strip away everything but the text and images. Here’s an example for the article for this thread: https://outline.com/R

I personally love Threema [1], which is available for iOS, Android, Microsoft and Web. It uses a random ID to identify users, uses End-to-end encryption, you can make voice calls, send messages, audio messages, GIF’s etc.. Oh, and it has a
