Is a lot of your comp in equity? How bad are your debt payments? Not trying to shame or anything. That just sounds insane that you could be barely making ends meet on 200k

But… what if you really like living in SF/SV? :( It’s just such a bummer that the absolute worst financial decision of my life is to live in my favorite place in the world. I get it, it’s how the world works, but it sucks to choose b

Again, super duper not a lawyer, but my understanding is that everyone has copyright protection over their own voice/face/name. It’s not like a trademark, which you have to file for. It’s assumed protection. Edit: after some qui

I mean, if the whole thing is that the filter makes you sound like Drake, you are objectively using Drake’s likeness for commercial benefit without his permission. IANAL, but that’s about as straightforward of a copyright violation as it ge

I have never gotten a startup offer that did not make clear what percentage of equity I was getting. If I saw "40,000 shares" with no idea what the denominator was, I would definitely ask clarifying questions.

I have a family member who has been going to sleep at 7:30 and waking up at 3:30 every day for a decade or more. And that's with three kids. People do, in fact, do this. Absolutely fucking baffling to me, but they do.

“Things you admire” is an extraordinarily broad category, so yeah, you probably could. But within the world of VC-backed tech companies, I do think “traditional” status markers are still very influential, and that when you dig into the Abou

There's a winner-take-all dynamic at play, though. The better CUDA is, the more things get built on top of it. The more things get built on top of CUDA, the better the CUDA ecosystem of tooling, frameworks, etc. gets. The better the

I could get behind this prediction just because it feels like you could take literally any political affiliation and still end up pushing for it.

Yeah, this is like claiming lead ethyl in gas “hasn’t caused mass harm” in 1954. There’s absolutely zero way to know that yet.

I don't know how fast banks can sell treasuries, but I feel like the answer has to be shorter than "all of 2022" 3 is pretty predictable for a bank that advertised itself as banking half of all VC-backed startups in the U.S.

SVB could have bought 3-year, 1-year, 6-month Treasury bills with that money -- which during 2020 and 2021 were yielding <0.25%. This would have been "safer", but lost them money. Instead, they bought 10-, 20-, and 30-year T-Bi

Lol. If every depositor at SVB just instantly took the straight-up haircut — to the tune of -20% or worse - 50 more banks would fail in the next week. Feds are averting national crisis here.
