"why not anything else" is mostly (for me) because they are a non-profit, and unlikely to be bought by or turn into a megacorp, similar to how wikipedia runs, although they're certainly a mega-something at this point, it stil

Wombat, a wails based gRPC GUI client has been working great for me and my team, and we use it for every gRPC demo we have to give since it's been introduced to the team.

Are there plans to develop a touchscreen and a tablet mode for the the framework? And if so, can we at least re-use some of the existing parts, other than the mainboard? I understand if you can't make promises here, I'm also on a

As also a current pixelbook user (it's now mostly a tablet replacement now that I bought a Framework), the only thing that would make this a full pixelbook replacement is a touch screen and a 360 hinge, so I can use it as a tablet. Per

Less biased opinion here (don't work for google, don't hold stock, am primarily a Linux user at home), but I use(d) a Pixelbook for all the same reasons mentioned above, though I now use a Framework as my primary laptop, but mostl

Quickly parsing / perusing stack traces is sort of a skill that comes from experience (looking at you, large-ass Java stack traces with multiple "caused by:"s). I've noticed this while coaching / working with junior

It's still valid for v2. While it's a bit easier to use in almost all respects, the documentation is still kind of crazy because it's mostly autogenerated. In Go, the first thing you run into when making an API call is figuri

Yeah that's precisely what I meant when I said "ease of creating custom PCBs with their small all-in-one modules" -- the pico-mini modules (I only now realize they're both called pico) and the C3 modules with antennas ar

What's everyone's read on how successful the new pi pico W is going to be? Undoubtedly the pi pico W will take some amount of mindshare away from Espressif, but espressif still has several advantages that are important to me (ESPH

Fairly heavy user of ESPhome here (I have about 15 or so devices automating several parts of my home). What would be a better option than YAML? The main advantages are ease of in-lining C++, and it's ubiquitous. Having to use k8s at wo

Why not? There's a lot to hate about every language, but one advantage about Go is that it's fairly easy to context switch in/out of, which makes it great for side projects, because it's cognitive load while using it is

Anyone know if podman has an equivalent to `docker buildx` yet? Right now I use docker a lot to build arm images to deploy on e.g. Raspberry Pis.

Yeah, we splurged on a Control Freak 3 years ago; it was on sale because they were phasing out the ones with the NEMA 5-20 plugs, honestly it's better if you have the 20A hookup. The idea we had was that we'd use it for Cantonese

Funnily enough I built a tool that does the same for my gigabyte monitor: https://github.com/kelvie/gbmonctl Along with some systemd scripts to toggle it for sunruse/sunset, with another simple tool: https:/

Wow that's quite a contrast with my Miele -- the pump broke (after 5 years of basically 2x daily use), and apparently it would have cost $600 for the pump, and $300 for the labour, so they just upsold us a new dishwasher (which only co

Curious to know if anything exists like this for Go? I've been finding myself writing more and more CLI programs in Go (used to use python, but it's a bit harder to distribute python bundles around...), and so far I've just b

I'm not sure if it's global to chromebooks, but my pixelbook touchpad so far has been the only non-apple one I've ever tried that was tolerable. Though I haven't tried many others in the past 5 years.

We're also in the same boat. It's something that stays out all the time. It's just unsightly to keep a box fan filter out all the time (we used one when we first moved out, and man, the back of the filter gets disgusting ).
