No problem. Not sure if you noticed, but I mentioned they use Rainloop for their webmail, which I provided a link to a demo of if you're just interested in checking out the webmail UI.

Quite well in my experience... sometimes too well. When you sign up with Migadu, you are essentially your own postmaster and can set how aggressive you want to filter spam on the domain level as well as per mailbox.

I think they appeal to powerusers that probably already use a client like Thunderbird. :) However, their webmail client is just RainLoop, which you can find a demo of here: https://www.rainloop.net/try-now/ Also, they

I also moved all my e-mail off Gmail and onto Migadu using my own domains. This ensures that even if Migadu goes under, I could swifty move to another service and keep my same e-mail addresses (for the record, Migadu is awesome). Like you m

Why do they get nothing? If you find value in their one-off videos, throw them a couple bucks. If they don't have a Paypal, Patreon, Liberapay, etc -- just watch a video of theirs with adblock temporarily disabled.

No, I was not positing that YouTube itself provides no value -- I was responding to a comment that asserted their reason for subscribing to YouTube Premium was to support content creators. I suggested an alternative. Personally, I do not di

If your concern is for supporting content creators, and if you have any reservations about the intrusiveness of adtrackers -- and also maybe you'd like to conserve your system resources when you browse the web -- wouldn't it make

To the author's credit, I have experienced this boogeyman during my time in the PHP world. There have been a couple of times on SO or reddit where my questions were met with a "why don't you just use Laravel?" My most me

Hey, I used VSCode. I could see how tightly integrated TS was with it, and I appreciated it.

I also disliked my time with TypeScript, but perhaps its value hasn't made itself entirely apparent to me. Most of my programming experience has also been with dynamically typed languages. I think if you had already spent enough time w

You dodged my question, but I could try to answer yours. Firstly, no one in this comment thread has claimed that PeerTube can solve all of the issues of YouTube. Privacy-oriented folk, and some FOSS advocates see it as a potential solutio

The assumption is: yes, the content creators who host their videos via P2P solutions like PeerTube would have to rely on external sources such as Patreon, or in-video sponsorships, or as another user pointed, use the built-in donations feat

I believe, based on conversations I've had, that the target audience of NewPipe overlaps with the target audience of solutions such as PeerTube, Mastodon, and other FOSS, privacy-centric alternatives.

There is snark in your own comment, so I find this criticism ironic. My comment was intended to be light-hearted, although I admit it missed the mark.

That is really absurd logic. It doesn't take very long to click on the OP's link, visit the project homepage, and see that NewPipe offers far more than just being ad-free. The home-page mentions ads a grand total of 1 times.

I'm really not sure what you mean by this comment. Are you talking about NewPipe? NewPipe is not a re-release of any Android Play Store app, or like any hacked app (like YouTube Vanced). It provides features beyond even YouTube Premium

It's certainly not a popular opinion, but it's definitely an uninformed opinion. The aim of NewPipe is not to "stick it to the man" or even to advertisers, it's to create a superior viewing experience that removes m

I really wonder why so many innocuous, on-topic comments about NewPipe are being downvoted in this thread. Are YouTube employees raiding HN or something? /s NewPipe is a great app, lighter on system resources than the official YouTub

Hey there, really happy to hear of the success you've had with Hyperapp. I've played with Hyperapp v1 in the past for small toy projects, and it was relatively easy to become productive with. I'm wondering if you have any ope

I personally never found much inherent value to JSX outside of making it easier to onboard other developers who are already familiar with HTML, or have seen React before. Otherwise, I found Hyperscript easy to read after about a day of usin
