The framework is complex, not its use. It’s actually extremely easy to use. If a project builds a framework that tries to cover every case in an opinionated way, they’re going to end up with a complex framework. Why should the fact that the

When I upgraded my MBA to Sonoma, it was unusable for about 3-4 days. Opening Finder would slow the system down to a halt and eventually crash. I have no idea what the problem was, but it eventually sorted itself out after that (not before

Call me crazy but my idea of a comprehensive desktop experience doesn’t involve recompiling tools like my terminal emulator or WM to change configuration. ‘No-bloat’ is kind of antithetical to GNU, where the various applications give you ev

I get the same error on an M series MacBook (Ventura). However from the repo README.md it looks like make should work instead of cmake, I’ll give that a try.

I replaced the battery with a non-OEM so the battery situation isn’t unexpected. It’s very usable, it’s just banged up. I was even running Ableton Live on it before I got a new MacBook. How many other 10 year old laptops treated with the sa

The revelation for me was when a school friend of mine in the early 2000s told me about a site called crack.cd which had serials or keygens for practically any software I wanted. It was a whole new world, I loved it. Only had to nuke my com

FWIW, Homebrew uses /opt/homebrew instead of /usr/local on Apple Silicon installations, as far as I know that was the main sticking point for the complaint that it took over your system. Still isn’t terribly useful for m
