Not sure whether this is common, but the definitions I use are: Customization - decisions that you make for yourself Personalization - decisions made for you based on implicit and explicit signals

In the classical inflation scenario, rising wages without rising output leads to price increases as input costs get bid up. So the wage increases we see in a tight labor market are what cause inflation in the first place.

This is the exact argument people made against solar power 20 years ago. They were wrong. Technology costs are very hard to predict.

Aren't debt rounds good because there's no dilution? How are they worse than selling new shares? (Genuinely curious)

The only reason this is being seriously considered is because the president has the power to cancel federal student debt without consulting Congress. There are some arguments that canceling student loans would be a much needed stimulus but

I bought physical copies of these books years ago. They are great and Farnsworth consistently does a great job introducing and then reinforcing these concepts.

I've tried to switch fully to firefox but it's just not good enough, especially on Android. Pages fail to load, get laggy, etc, none of which happens on Chrome. I'd love to ditch Google but it's hard when the second best

For anyone interested, there's a free guided Wim Hof breathing session every Monday night at 9pm Pacific. I've been doing it on and off for a few months. No idea if it helps anything at all, but I enjoy it. https://www.

My wife and I recently tried to find a name that sounds good in English and Korean. It's nice to see that the one we chose shows up in the fuzzy matches section.

I worked for AIER for about a year after college. They are (with a handful of exceptions) a bunch of clowns and the vast majority of their work is utterly vacuous. I don't even put it on my resume. On the plus side, lunch was served ev

Reminds me of Berkshares, a local currency that launched in western Massachusetts while I still lived there. It's not a great idea since people have no real incentive to participate, but it's always interesting to see something li

When I first moved to San Francisco, I barely drove for 5 years. When I started again it felt incredibly dangerous and overwhelming, but it feels normal again now that I drive more frequently. I think this is normal.

I remember reading a study once that concluded that buying from a farmers market is only emissions negative if the farmer lives within a few miles of the market. Ship transport is mind bogglingly efficient.

My biggest peeve with System76 is how much they charge for extra chargers. An extra one for my Galago was $75 plus shipping, and this one is $125!

I wish System 76 would stop trying to pack more hard drives into their laptops and instead focus on bigger batteries. Given the two M.2 slots would anyone actually want a 2.5"?

For combinatorics, I highly recommend Miklos Bona's A Walk Through Combinatorics[0]. Combinatorics is intuitive and approachable to begin with, and this book is particularly accessible as far as math texts go. [0] - https://
