I would think most developers in the world are using corporate laptops. Don't think we'll ever see a fully unsupported OS installed on those.

The Average price paid for a new car in the US is ... $35k-$40k. Almost no one in the US buys $15K Mitsubishi Mirages and more reasonable cars that start at $20K are rarely actually sold bare bones for that much.

The quality of life may be higher for lower middle class or poor people, but not for developers making $150k+ a year with benefits. And most of your points are just silly or negated by having money.

Working from home hasn't changed the dynamics of having team members all over the world. There are countless issues creating an effective team spread around the globe from Language Barriers and Time Zones to Labor Laws (ex. losing Nord

What I've seen from a financial company perspective is it's mainly cost center development that was handled by the overseas offices. Product and revenue development stayed in the US.

I honestly don't have first hand experience, but I seriously doubt every FAANG developer is the rock star you're making them out to be. I'm sure there are certainly plenty of FAANG developers working on boring shit that needs

And yet the US is not #1 in pretty much any quality of life metric. The point is there are plenty of nations with varying degrees of US influence that are far from miserable or painful places to live.

I've always wondered how this would work. Surely if it was possible to reasonably implement OpenGL 4.6 on the PI GPU it would already be done through Mesa.

From the reviews I've seen so far, seems like Apples "Relative Perfomance Points" benchmarks were as misleading as expected for the GPU. The M1 Max is more like a 3060 in performance not a 3080.

For most of human history humanity did not exist in the form it does today. There are regions in countries with higher population than the entire planet a few hundred years ago. So I don't think we can take much lesson about scale from

There was a generation here or there where AMD(and Nvidia) had poor performance per watt. And even then it was due to pushing clock speeds and voltages on the high end parts to compete on performance. Hardly the norm or even the case today.

Mainstream 1080p wasn't the worst of it. Just a decade or so ago it was impossible to find a non-17" Windows laptop without a 1366x768 TN screen with awful contrast and viewing angles so bad there was no good angle. Even super pre
