Moore's Law, as originally stated, is that the number of transistors on a chip doubles every 18 months. Flash memory is definitely on that trajectory, and SSD controllers look like they can make good use of increased transistor counts for

They're just another product on the Moore's Law trajectory. Treat them the same as you do computers and phones -- plan to buy a new one every 2-3 years, and plan on only having the latest and greatest for about 12 minutes after you get it.

Here's an example. Java Drive (no relation to the language) in Sunnyvale is five blocks long. According to Google Maps, the following businesses are on it. (Plus I'm pretty sure there's at least one Yahoo! building there.) Supertex Logic

I always think it's fun to drive down random streets in the commercial areas of Mt. View, Sunnyvale and San Jose and see the crazy mix of famous, has-been, and still unknown companies' signs on the buildings.

The HN headline is extremely misleading. It's the first sustained flight of a FLAPPING WING human powered aircraft. The Gossamer Condor demonstrated sustained flight in 1977. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gossamer_Condor

I know Profounder is in very early stage, but where is the interface for investors? It's important to see how investors will interact with the site.

Arrived in 1992. Left in 2001. Lived in a Sunnyvale apartment two years and a San Jose house (NW of Campbell) for seven years. I moved there for my career, which did very well. I largely hated the valley as a place to live, simply becaus

Commit a felony and go to jail. That will meet most of your requirements. You will probably be paroled early, so commit additional felonies as required.

The graph is deceptive, I think. The X axis is household income, which has not been linear with time, and likely declined during some of the recessions noted. It makes no sense (to me) to use that as the independent variable.

You might have read it that way but I don't think that was the author's intent. In fact, the Zonda has gone out of production (twice so far), so the only way to get a new one is to order one custom. Not that "production" versus "custom" me

The headline is misleading -- it's only US and coalition casualities. Doesn't count civilian casualties, which are an order of magnitude higher but much less carefully recorded.

For fun, I re-ran his million-digit calculation last night. What took three years starting in 1987 took 2:21:09 (2 hours, 21 minutes) on a 2006-vintage PC* and 1:38:55 on a 2010 laptop . I got the same termination message (pass 2415836).

"People" don't hate lifestyle businesses. "Investors" (both VC and angel) hate them, and it's for the obvious reasons: if an entrepreneur doesn't take outside funding, and doesn't shoot for a big exit in 5-7 years, then there's no opportun
