The paradigm shift is that in Python the most direct way is best. Examples. In Java, accessor methods are considered good style. In Python, directly accessing a member is better. (more concise, makes client code clearer.) If you need to

Finding the right job takes time. Staying in the wrong job for a while makes sense. Plus, the job market is very unhealthy now (though it's recovering, at least for engineers).

How long will China tolerate VPNs? While they are an essential tool for international business, they also completely defeat the firewall.

It's also immature. I'll be sad if HN becomes Reddit. The original article's headline is much better - more descriptive, more informative.

How about disappointed? I've seen intriguing non-Von architectures for decades, and they always lose out to Moore's Law and the fact that 1,000X more engineering resources are invested in Von Neumann architectures.

I'm surprised you headlined it "even" Google. Google's policies are better aligned with hacker ethics than any other large tech company. (E.g., open source Android and Chrome, GSoC, efforts to free spectrum, Data Liberation Front)

Your second and third points could be read as, "I like it because it makes the app store less competitive." I guess I like it too because I don't want the next decade of personal computing to be an Apple monopoly, and making the app store l

In US law, I'd think the more relevant precedent would be US vs. Microsoft. Judge Jackson wrote a lengthy decision procedure for when a platform is a monopoly. Microsoft's position was that Windows is not a monopoly, because customers had

Should also consider the cases with zero head pointers. For singly linked lists, a pointer to any node gives you the downstream part of the list, but not the upstream. (Can't think of any non-contrived, simple examples.) For doubly linked
