Having had exposure to both C and Pascal at around the sane time, I vastly preferred working in C. I do think there's something intrinsically good about it compared to other contemporary systems languages - I don't think it's

I had the same thing with SpaceChem. Once I found myself trying to implement a mutex in it... I've just spent all day at work doing stuff like this, and then I come home from work and keep doing it there as well. Great game, but it

It's just... sigh... I dunno. It's like COBOL. Or COM. There's nothing in any way pleasant about it. It's undeniable that it works, and perhaps gets things done in a practical manner. But there's no love in it. Just

It's not useless if you learn something from it. If you don't want to learn anything, that's fine. But I certainly learned a few new ideas from taking some time to judge it objectively. If tomorrow someone launched a new Linu

Well, it's 1am here and I can't really be bothered to get into this too deeply, but here's one for you: How would you implement Netflix without using external plugins such as Silverlight?

You're absolutely right that it's a pretty good way to build text/image-based documents and show them on a page (well, ignoring CSS and it's many quirks). But a lot of people wanting to do web-things don't want to j

I'm kinda annoyed that the judge completely misread my entry. I had it so that data was leaked out of a function that could not possibly leak data, via a malloc side-channel attack (ala HeartBleed). Instead it got judged as being a &#x

If you want to do it in realtime, your best bet is to use Marching Cubes to tessellate the isosurface into a triangle mesh. You can either do that every frame, or cache the result and animate it via conventional means.

The best and simplest results can be obtained by using a Hammersley Point Set[1]. [1] https://www.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/~ttwong/papers/udpoint/udpoint.p...

Right, but there's a difference between things that the OS is expected to provide (OpenSSL, GTK, etc) which the app should not bundle, and things like libpng which the app basically should bundle. e.g. Windows supplies KERNEL/USER
