Maybe I missed something. Because I see it simple: Life happens - one founder can die/disappear suddenly and then what? This is why you should have more than one backup drive, more than one device with your crypto-keys, more than one e

Wouldn't it be more constructive to give arguments first for the opposite: Why should hacker news limit paywalled articles. Since you acknowledge you are already offtopic, you could add a little more than just ask a question that is a

Interesting: Saw the last episode of season 4 and seriously thought it was the conclusion. Yes, there was the flash forward of season one ... but didn't think about that in the moment. And as others said: When you become aware while vi

Anecdotal to a certain degree: In our part of Cologne, Germany, you place things you want to share/get rid of outside your doorstep (even in duplexes and larger houses with lots of flats). People come by and take (mostly what needed),

Weird. Did noone else notice the obvious? A prepaid/gift-card company rooting via a (sketchy) survey based article for prepaid/gift-cards as the number one gifts. How convenient. I would love see the numbers behind the survey and

See reply below about Open Core Legacy Patcher[1] which enables to use older Intel Models to use modern OS Versions. And for even older hardware, check out the patchers from Dosdude[2]. Most likely this will not be possible with the M-Class

Lets hope the open core project, namely the Open Core Legacy Patcher[1] will revive some older models to run Ventura. Personally, I'm running a 2014/15 Macbook Air 11" for 7 years now[2] and with "Open Core Legacy"

Are you open to ideas? Repairability = good for the environment comes from replacing a small piece of a larger hardware item so the whole hardware does not have to be recycled in the first place. Now what happens when the MacBook has a defe

You are right. But instead of making things smaller all the time, a company could chose to make things better repairable - like the framework laptop. Would Apple do that? No, why should they, since most if its hardware buyers are oblivious

I think you did not misunderunderstand me on purpose, but the modularity/repairablity is abysmal, period. One example: Internal ssd dead - system cannot be used. And since its soldered in, thats it. Am I wrong?

Mostly it came from dual memory modules for intel cpus - you could have 2 dimms with 16 and 8 gb modules and have 24 GB Memory in total. But speed/bandwith-wise you would run better with either 2x8 or 2x16.
