It's a tough edge to walk - the kerfuffle with brit ruby shows that people will look for reasons to target a con to push an agenda. Not to excuse any gender based discrimination, but I think it does put it in context.

Your response is nonsensical - nothing in the article suggested anything even remotely resembling what you got out of it. It's a puff piece about hobbies. What that means, is that to you, the content is immaterial - where does this reaction

Are you kidding? We're demonstrably less free today than 1999. The TSA springs to mind, the patriot act..

Yes it means exactly that - There was a recent talk about sexual health that was canceled because it ran against that rule. http://violetblue.tumblr.com/post/44107008572/what-happened-...

She doesn't really care though. This was an ego move, first and foremost. Calling it a women's rights issue is an insult to women.

Wrong. The joke was not sexist in any way - to call it so is a deliberate misrepresentation of the situation.

Such a bullshit argument. "no you see, it's ok to be a bigot because of the context!" Such crap - it really sickens me to see people arguing in favor of bigotry and hate because they feel they can get away with it.

Two men were victimized. Full stop. This doesn't help end victimization of women. This is insane because it's so self defeating. All this does is give ammo to the people who were against the changes being made this year.

I don't know about the rest, but the increased consumption of fake beer is a pretty classic example of an inferior good. The good that people resort to skimping on would shift from country to country (measured by indifference curves), but i
