That thread is depressing - most of the things people are complaining about are conscious design decisions made by the python team. EG Complaining about self - explicit is better than implicit is a core property of python. I feel like `import this` would answer a lot of these.
- orangecat 14y agoPracticality beats purity. Python should support better function literals for the same reason that it supports the "implicit" [1,2,3] instead of making you explicitly create a list and call append. I'd say self falls into the same category, although I haven't found it as much an annoyance as some.
