It is really sad how relevant and spot on your analysis is. I have moved from a small typical 10-15 guys IT shop to a well established national player in private banking and it is unbelievable how crippling and exhausting work is there - bu

It shows the fundamental differences in the work a manager and a software engineer does. The open communication will make it easier for the manager to load-off work, to stay in the loop, to check on their employees "subtly" and writing all

They are extremely paranoid of anyone "sneaking" in, especially from countries that could be considered "poorer". I agree, the process of a visitor's visa is insane. You are probably much better off if she just came as a tourist... Also, wh

This has been mentioned a few times in here and sounds interesting - sweeter on the first sips but people would NOT prefer the whole can. Please cite sources!!

I think I have the SR80i and I love them! Only thing I can't stand is the thick, clumsy cables which tend to always seem to have some tension because the two headphones can turn freely. Still, I would not replace them for any other brand.

I cannot think of any other market with that much voodoo and obscure "magic" as high end audio equipment or (especially) guitar tube amplifiers. And they make sure to keep their selling arguments to "musicality", "passion" and "emotions" be

The only scenario I can imagine where storing passwords in plain text is acceptable is when you are going for a CRAM-MD5 sort of authentication where the actual password will never go across the wire and even then it is a hell of a trade of

I think I have been putting this off far too long but... do you guys think one could study TAOCP alone, without studying at MIT or Berkeley? I have been working with computers since more than 18 years as a programmer and sys architect but m

Also, the fact that the bossman can obviously NOT think of any (better) way of getting new customers but asking his people to implement features and then hope to lure someone in sounds pretty bad. Depending on country and social insurance a

Come on, this is clearly far, FAR away from being NoSQL! You are missing a hip, unusual name, a cool website design, clever, convincing slogans, lots of media/blog coverage and an intriguingly large downloadable binary version.

I think you are only really "rich" when you are making a decent (e.g. middle/upper middle-class) monthly salary without even (theoretically) setting a foot out of bed, ever. Given the complete freedom to do a lot of things in your life with
