On the other hand at least you get notified that your name and face are now publicly viewable on the intarwebs somewhere. The question is what you can then do about it.

Plus you don't really need that secure of an access. Any given access would do... plus a limited login that can only sudo shutdown.

I found that password scheme pretty OCD and not very secure considering once you have that paper, you have a pretty good chance of very quickly brute-forcing your way in.

Ideally you should not have to circumvent the default PermitRootLogin settings; it is there for a reason. And no need to give out root passwords, if you are so security conscious. Our polo-necked messiah has given us iPhones that can even r

Probably more important than "addictive" personality traits alone are social skills and/or understanding of politics and how to work people and manipulate because ultimately those are the ones who actually do get promoted; the higher up you

Yes, it just comes down to greed and so far, I can follow. The point I do not understand is.. when that blind greed goes horribly, horribly wrong then nobody has to answer and everybody gets bailed out and nothing happens against that. That

What I can still not understand: how could this have happened at all and how come just like with the financial crisis following the housing bubble, it is nobody's fault really, nobody gets the blame and has to answer and step down and get l

Wow, this is pretty sweet - especially the part where they are still using real seeds! I doubt the majority of farmers are doing this here.

Well, even with local farmers you do not escape the mass food production industry, really. AFAIK there are hardly any farmers left who do NOT grow their vegetables and fruits with actual, natural seeds but rely on those genetically modified

This might apply more here in Europe than in the USA, considering you have such an abundance of land available. But our cheaper vegetables are notoriously grown in glasshouses in the Netherlands and Spain over here and they do not touch any

There was an interesting read on HN not too long ago about the "biggest mistake" of humanity... and it was settling down and growing crops instead of hunting and gathering which allegedly made life easier but according to the article it act

I understand this bit very well, thankyouverymuch. What I find fascinating is how one-dimensional and downright stupid and emotion-filled the stock market actually is and the Apple stocks are one of many good examples for that in this case.

A fascinating thing here is that despite all of Apple's current products, all the rising sales numbers, all the hype, popularity and air of coolness surrounding them and all the generally good news about them and all that... up to the launc

I find the idea of a bunch of 4chan, excuse me, "newfags" and "oldfags" frakking around the internet "for the lulz" and/or "shits and giggles" a lot more friendly and support-worthy than the same people rolling out a huge Robin-Hood/"the ab

One thing that continuously strikes me is Apple's ability to invest great level of detail when they want to. Take the FileVault recovery key, for example. For something so crucial like file encryption, not only do they offer you a quick sol

You are exaggerating by 200% and leading it ad absurdum. "Cheating" for me means getting one or two hints at an exam and with the exam situation being what it is, those hints typically only really help to jog your memory if you did study. I

I am Austrian and studied in Austria. Cheating is not really considered special or extra-ordinary in any way here. Pupils in school would try it, also students later on might try to... generally it is the duty of the teacher or professor to

I don't know what it is with you US Americans and "cheating"... but it seems to be a very touchy subject in your culture, almost like violating someone's honors. I never understood that.
