The Sinatra videos from screencasts.org are also really good and they're free. I'd been considering subscribing to Peepcode, but with screencasts.org and railscasts.com I'm now not convinced I need to.

Another issue with NAT in large scale deployments is the limited number of simultaneous connections possible. I believe this was best demonstrated by the screenshots of how Google Maps starts degrading when you drop the connections availabl

If you're hiring then this may hold true, but it doesn't fit with my experience of contracting. Whilst the best organisations are looking to contract out to the best people, there are many companies looking for the cheapest subcontractor fo

Recently added to Microsoft's virtualisation solution is dynamic memory allocation. You give each virtual machine an amount of memory for startup and a maximum value and a priority, and now you can over-allocate resources quite nicely. It d

Its all about getting the right balance and progressing in all areas of your life, not just one. Think about your ideal situation and work towards that. It's often helpful to think about your priorities using a four quadrant model - Self, W

There was a similar site in the UK relatively recently, advertised quite heavily on TV I recall. It was named something like My Single Friend. I no longer have a TV so I don't know if they're still advertising. As hackers we're always comin

It is fairly simple to check for obviously malicious JS or PHP code in a theme, but it's not so easy to find themes which are badly written and thus insecure. Can you always spot a XSS or SQL injection vulnerability?

You mean like the exploit scanner as linked to from the source article? Make that part of core WordPress and scan for other obfuscation techniques too and you're well on the way to improving things.

That's largely not going to make a difference. You can already mostly trust themes and plugins listed on the WordPress.org website. The themes with the bad code are the ones available elsewhere, and quite often are pirated versions of com

The key here isn't a screening process for themes and plugins available through a WordPress website. The themes which have the back doors are typically pirated versions of paid-for themes which are never going to get into a WordPress app s
