1. Write your will; 2. Split it into N + 1 horcruxes and distribute them to your N children; and a remaining piece to a lawyer; 3. Force them to all come together to decrypt the will for fairness.

"Nahuaer" seems like a nice brand of sausages.

Nice idea. But doesn't seem very robust. I searched for "fallus" and it gave me a nonsensical answer instead of the "phallus" that I expected.

I believe that there are two things at play here: 1. epistemology (a.k.a. ToK - Theory of Knowledge) and 2. emotion vs rationality. What the author says should be completely natural to a person who is has studied ToK and who is in a rather

You probably won't be able to turn it at all with bare hands due to the sheer friction of the first few gear axles at the other end being amplified so much.

The cynic side of me thinks Google has figured this out: - search history of more than 3 months ago is somewhat worthless for analytics/advertisement purposes; - search history of more than 18 months ago is really worthless, but hey, w

I put a piece of Scotch tape and blacken the area just around the “pupil” with a permanent marker. This way, I can still see the indicator light. You could use something like acrylic paint if you are extra cautious/paranoid.

Yep. This has already happened. iNaturalist has an auto-identification function that can identify pretty accurately down to the genus level most of the time and some times species level.

For me, the lack of guarantee about dead pixels is what is holding me back from buying a PineBook Pro. It’s 2020. Dead pixels shouldn’t be a thing anymore. I would be willing to pay a little bit more and get a unit that is guaranteed to hav

FuryBSD also made it to the HN frontpage yesterday. Both FuryBSD and NomadBSD are based on FreeBSD. Is FreeBSD just generally a better desktop OS than OpenBSD? I've never used any *BSD in my life, so I honestly don't know.

That’s not entirely comparable though, I think. You’re talking about a complete change of domain (systems programming to webdev). The technology is bound to be different. And so there is a question of causality: are you changing domain beca
