Nothing will ever compare to the inefficient absurdity of server racks of 2013 “trash can” Mac Pros. https://9to5mac.com/2018/11/01/mac-server-room/

This article doesn't nearly live up to the ambitious headline. It didn't really have much to say. If anything, it doesn't even touch on the real problem facing most podcasts: the severe decline in podcast advertising revenue.

This. It's crazy how primitive the GPU development process still is in the year 2023. Yeah it's gotten better, but there's still a massive gap with traditional development.

> Apple charges 30% on your second $million Not exactly. That would be a purely progressive tax like US income taxes. With the Small Business Program, what you say is only true the first time you cross 1 mil. Assuming your revenue never

It’s not like there was some centralized decision making here. It’s possible for the two cases to be contradictory, given jury vs bench, and a whole host of other reasons. I think it’s safe to say that there’s still a long road ahead for bo

Exactly. The whole argument about security and people needing a central payment system for things to be safe user friendly is patently ridiculous given that said approach is working just fine for all the “physical items” apps.

This disturbing conversation has been public for many years and discussed ad nauseam. I’m not defending it, but just making sure that readers of this HN post don’t think it’s breaking news. Here’s a post from 2009 discussing it: https:

Wow, all the comments and responses to that person's comments are a gold mine. Not saying anything should be taken as gospel, either from that poster or the people replying. But certainly a lot of food for thought.

Exactly. And although Substack has done a good job of building their brand, on the technical side they have pretty much zero "moat". The service they provide is incredibly simple. It never made sense as a VC-funded massive growth

Yet another reminder that account recovery is the weakest link in the security chain for online accounts. Consider all the work going into new tech such as passkeys -- none of it matters if it's possible for janky account recovery tech
