I would be annoyed at losing a day or so of work, if the outage was all at once - but nine hours a year is tolerable. I wish my ISP was that reliable. Hell, I wish my power company was that reliable. Where I live it's common to have a

This is garbage. I have several Roku devices and it’s ridiculous they can change the ToS years later on something I already own. Not to mention, how can it this be enforceable? Roku has no way to prove who clicked the acceptance - could be

"Are tech job interviews really such a nightmare?" Yes. It's not just about the leetcode questions - the entire process of interviewing in tech these days is Kafkaesque. Interviews with half a dozen people or more, take-home

(Author here): Users new to KDE don't know what's up with the feature. They miss a window and suddenly they're on a different virtual desktop. If they connect the behavior they may feel like "ooh, I've discovered

Procrastination may be a symptom of a lot of things - anxiety, ADHD, etc. Nobody on HN is going to be able to diagnose you, though - you should probably talk to someone who can actually diagnose you and possibly prescribe treatment if your

We got some during the pandemic. My wife went through the “make your own bread” phase with great enthusiasm. (And results!) We’d tend to Carl, our container of starter, and talk about how well it was doing. Then it trailed off and it’s gone

A lot of people could do with learning more empathy. People shouldn’t have to be hard. People, especially over-privileged people like this, should learn how to behave like decent humans.

How many people are actually going to switch, though? I’ve primarily used Linux for 25 years. Used to try to get people to switch. Microsoft would do something user hostile and people would complain, and then just go back to using Windows.

In college I had a friend whose father was an OTR trucker. Absolutely destroyed his back. He had back problems when I first met the family and a few years later he was on medical leave and unable to work, and he was maybe in his late 50s.

As someone else noted, I doubt there's a lot of exploits lurking in hopes that they'll be able to own a Windows 3.11/MS-DOS 6.22 system. I'd be much more concerned about hooking up, say, Windows 7 than Windows 3.11.

I didn’t say anything about not paying labels. My point was you should buy music rather than counting on it to trickle down from Spotify. Note that many of the artists I’ve been buying from aren’t on major labels, though.
