I think OP's point was that Microsoft and HP have purchased a bunch of not-so-great companies.

Totally. All crypto concerns aside--though I am on the side of the fence that says, while Signal is clearly superior, MTProto still hasn't really been cracked, and WhatsApp's server-side key reset is a bigger deal--the UX for Tele

Sorry if this is a little blunt, but why do you stay? That sounds horrible. Unless there's other major benefits to the job, I'd be looking around for new work as soon as I heard that I'd be required to check mail on vacation.

True, but my parents taught me very early on that this is the case. Same with ads on childrens' TV channels. Did I go through a phase, like most kids, of wanting and begging for stuff at the store? Of course, but they never caved. Depe

Sorry if this is a super naive/dumb question, but why wouldn't I simply write a "build" script that copies files out of my dotfile repo to where they're supposed to go?

I don't understand this. Do you mean "short-term profitability is not a concern"? My take was that DistroKid is already taking bare minimum profits, so even if someone enters the market with cash to burn, they're only fi

I'd imagine that was a Ballmer-era policy. I would be interested to see if there's anything like that coming out of Nadella's Microsoft (keeping in mind that Nadella's Microsoft hired the guy behind Mono).

As someone who is only just finding out about all this, I don't fully understand why the cab drivers stopped picking people up. I think the fact that people were using Uber (and Lyft) to leave the airport means they needed to (which is

Yeah, but that's not how the exploit would work. If you read the article, the "backdoor" is that WhatsApp could "generate" a new private key without your knowledge. Except that instead of generating a key, they'

The title is a bit clickbait-y. From what I gathered, they really mean 80% of active users which is probably still too high, but I think it's probably Snapchat's year to peel off A LOT of active users from Facebook. Not that it&#x

Teams even works as a fully-functional (i.e. chat, voice, video, groups) replacement client for Skype for Business. In my opinion, it works much better as a SFB client; hoping it eventually just takes over SFB.
