So you're saying communism can't survive in the real world where foreign intelligence agencies exist?

It doesn't even really make sense as a concept. People resign from their jobs and then what? Maybe a small extra portion of the elderly retire early and a small portion become stay at home parents. The rest find new jobs.

That's ridiculous. If I'm writing a recipe, I don't put 50 disclaimers in it about how I know not everyone can afford chicken and how I am so privileged to have food. Why would the author need to clutter up their writing in

On the other hand, many of us do have such a luxury, especially on hackernews, but may be too afraid or too institutionalized to use it. It's nice to have people reminding us that we can make deliberate choices about our work life.

So what if the author is privileged? Unless you're living in a mud hut and subsistence farming, you can count yourself among the privileged as well. I guess you don't get to write anything on the internet because you might offen

Aflatoxin content is regulated by the government. If we had similar regulations for processed meat, there would be no bacon.

Its true that the dose makes the poison and in the case of processed meats, the dose that people normally eat is enough to increase their risk of bowel and stomach cancer. Its telling that you are comparing it to alcohol, another substance

Processed meats like bacon are a known carcinogen according to the WHO. Unprocessed red meats are only a probable carcinogen.

The article suggests 3-4% inflation moving forward instead of 1-2%. Do you really need to hedge against that? I would say buy stock in companies with strong demand and pricing power.

Personally, I'm not going to endure a higher workload just because my teammates left. The company will just have to find and train replacements or deal with slower delivery and missed deadlines. The worst they can do is fire me and th

It does stand to reason that not driving to work would be more efficient than any form of transport, even a bicycle.

Right now, you can borrow a large amount of money (larger than pretty much any other loan type) at a low fixed interest rate and pay the bank back less than what they loaned you in inflation-adjusted terms. It's basically free money a

That's much worse than leetcode problems because it requires tons of work outside work . Most people, myself included, have a life and interests outside of the very narrow focus of their career, and don't want to spend 16 hours a

Also, its a lot easier to study leetcode problems than it is to study for domain-specific ones (since there are many different domains). I would expect having more domain-specific problems would limit you to a narrower range of jobs.

Shouldn't whoever is tasked with finding such inefficiencies realize that a simple script could be written to replace the process of manually transferring files to and from cloud storage?
