What redirect? And, did you even read the comment that you're replying to? 1. There isn't a redirect from that huge link. 2. The post replying to just explained a theory that doesn't involve tracking: the URL needs to be that long to be uni

Just because you made yourself vulnerable doesn't mean it's OK to state incorrect/wrong things. The response to OP's posts are more valid and his tone is appropriate in expressing how wrong some of the original points were (IMHO).

Is reddit censoring posts or something? I don't understand why I don't see a single post about Aaron on my front page.

As a stranger who's never known Aaron and who's only just read about what he's done in this world, I can say I'm somewhat devastated as well. You're blaming Aaron for taking the supposedly cowardly approach and hurting his friends and famil

Is a slippery slope the concern here, or is it just a matter of principle that nobody should be allowed to mess with your machine unless you give them permission to? In this specific case, I don't have a problem with this security fix/decis

You've never had anything in the same Linux distro break after years of use? Seriously? Somehow I find that hard to believe. Even the most skilled Linux users have had things break on them. Just to name a few, PulseAudio used to (maybe stil

Yes, I think Unity is slightly better, but another problem with most Linux distros is that when things break, it's way harder to fix that on Windows, and in my experience they seem to break all that time after even just a month of use. Yea,

It's probably been said over and over again, but the problem is that Linux (or I guess Ubuntu) isn't really easy to use for the non-tech type. It's an OS that gives you an interface to your computer, not an OS that will get out of the way a

Wow, who would buy this? This just doesn't make any sense to me. It's not really portable and it has terrible battery life. I would take a Mac Mini + a nice Dell screen over this any day.

A few days of blocking an unsupported device and the damage is done? Wow, doesn't take much to do damage these days, also considering they are working on fixing it already (on a weekend). I don't see Microsoft being harmed much by all the b

I would hardly call blocking an unsupported mobile OS from loading a website monopolistic. It's like blocking OSX apps from running on Windows even though it might kind of "work". It would tarnish Google's reputation if people tried to use

I've always been interested in having a cheap, replaceable and portable laptop like this as a dev machine, but the more I think about it the more I realize this is more like an iPad (i.e. for media consumption) than a dev machine. That is u

This isn't really related to this post. Also, this is just childish whining that your precious ad sense revenue account gets banned. Well, shit happens. 100$? That sounds like your first ad sense paycheck, so call me skeptical but you proba

Better safe than sorry? Why is that disappointing that they "fixed" it quickly? Heck, just look at the comments in this post and people are already pulling out that tired "Don't be evil" quote again and trying to blame Google for this or so

I wouldn't call automatic memory management a "huge leap forward" at all. Sure it makes code a bit more concise and eliminates leaks (more or less), but it makes your code less performant and just shifts the problem away from the programmer

It's different if the main country you're operating in has warrants to access your data. As a counter example, Google left China and instead operates out of HK now because they weren't willing to let the government eavesdrop on your search

I understand you're upset, but that's probably a really naive view. Maybe it seems to you that there is no DIRECT upside for you personally, but there's always an upside, just like there's always a downside for every good thing that happens

So, the argument is that C++ is too hard to learn for the average programmer, and that's why it's not "back"? I don't get it, isn't that win-win is many situations. I'd rather have a solid developer who can master C++ or at least understand

I think it's 90 days for hotmail/outlook, which is pretty short compared to gmail, which I think is a year. But, that would also explain why it's a lot easier to get the email name you want on hotmail/outlook.

Uh.. they didn't 'cut out' anything. If anything, it's the carriers that are stupid for not adopting the same standard of using sim cards (Verizon and Sprint don't use sim cards..). I think they wanted to lock people in to their service.
