Amazing work. I am also impressed by the advances in technology. 20 years ago, I had severe RSI problems and worked on "vx-mode", a package for interfacing XEmacs to Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the best speech-recognition solution a

The answer is "no, it doesn't". I've been running my SaaS first on a single server, then after getting product-market fit on several servers. These are bare-metal servers (Hetzner). I have no microservices, I don't

Some apps enforce this flow, e.g. there is no way to log in with a password. I hate this. Because of the developers of these apps assuming that E-mail guarantees instant delivery (it doesn't), I can't use greylisting, which reduce

Please do not let a story like that discourage you from running your own mail server. I am really worried about the future where 2-3 adtech corporations control what we receive and read, and we are not far away from that future. As a counte

This is such an amazing engineering achievement, especially if you consider the technology available at the time (computers!) — I'm worried that we are unable to produce such wonderful work anymore. And that most of the effort seems to

The pricing page (in the FAQ section) has a "c..e@buttondown.email" address, so the grep must not have been complete :-) (I've migrated a domain from .io to .com, I can relate) I'm a possible customer, so I looked at the

Apple acquired the company in 2015 and 3 years later open-sourced the database. (so much misinformation in this thread, this isn't hard to check)

I own an ID.4. I absolutely hate the capacitive controls. They can easily be activated accidentally, and you never know what happens if you touch a certain area. Some places/buttons are sensitive, some are not. It's a UX nightmare

It's pretty amazing how Microsoft has consistently been shitting all over E-mail for the last 30 years or so. I still remember how Outlook was introduced in the 90s and E-mail started going down the drain because of it.

As I read these comments, there is plenty of outrage at how Google keeps invasively tracking us. And rightly so. But I wonder about the other side of it: in my SaaS business I made a point of not using any tracking whatsoever and not lett
