As an LGBTQ person, this makes me very sad. Just look at fandom twitter and you will see how much even a small amount of representation on screen means to people like me. I wish everybody could experience that.

I don't know about daily notes, anything that's daily kind of loses its impact. But leaving surprise love notes for my wife, spontaneously, a few times a year is wonderful and something I highly recommend. Get some post-its and a

I found a few 1860s wedding certificates and a handwritten IOU from the same era in one of my grandfather’s reference books on stamp collecting.

I had a host leave me high and dry at the last minute during a holiday on the Amalfi Coast once; we showed up to the property we'd booked for a week and found it occupied with family/friends of the host. It was high season and eve

Somebody is always trying to call the top of the bubble, but nobody really knows. People told me I was being stupid for buying last year after the initial COVID price surge, and still my home's nominal value is up something like ~10% s

I've struggled with weight my whole life. The only thing I've figured out for sure is that cutting out nearly all added sugar is essential to keeping my calories where they should be. Firstly because of the calories in the sugar.

I recently bought one of these to pair with my standing desk and I'm losing about one pound per week from walking a leisurely 5-6 miles a day during work. Took me a few days to get acclimated, but after a few weeks I felt fully product

I completely agree. I was only lightly using Netflix so when they last raised prices it was the push I needed to actually cancel. The recent content they've rolled out doesn't justify the heftier price tag compared to competitors.

Twitter's announcement says they have been working on the Edit Button since last year. It has nothing to do with Elon's poll. Let's give credit where it's due.

> Do you really think a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft has $2.5M in cash sitting in his checking account to buy a home? No way. It's not common, but definitely possible. E.g. if you were part of an acquihire. Or just got luck

A few years back I was in a role where it was my job to maintain a small but non-trivial open source project (~1500 github stars, 5 core contributors). I burned out after about two years in that role. People repeatedly demanding help in the

OP isn’t going to fix his financial picture by skipping lattes and getting a cheaper apartment. Even if he went into hardcore miser mode he might save about $20-30k per year. Compare that with seeking market rate comp he could pretty easily

For a software person with 12 years experience in a major US city, $110k is insanely low. I’ve known people who made more than that after a 12 week bootcamp.

You need to make more than you spend. Your comp is very low so you need to change jobs to get your comp closer to where it should be. Not much else to say on this. Start leetcoding and polish your resume. Edit: Yes, $110k for a tech employe

This is a huge part of the dilemma for me. My equity has, on average, traded sideways. Equivalent offers or even worse offers from companies with better stock performance could end up being worth materially more.

I really appreciate this comment. The $1M house I bought last year at 2.75% (now supposedly valued $1.1M) might go down to $600-700k if we have some kind of major correction, but it's in a desirable area and never going to zero. I'
