It applies to any flour based dough. Not just corn. "masa de maiz" literally means "corn dough". I'm a native spanish speaker BTW. I get all the nuances.

It should say: "are not willing to pay extra". My guess is that most people already pay an awful lot in taxes, so they would be more willing for some of those taxes they already pay be shifted to climate change initiatives.

"masa" literally means dough. There's nothing unique about the word. I get using "tortilla" which has a very specific meaning, but "masa"? There's a perfectly good, common english word that means exac

Mercurial was good but awfully slow, particularly on medium to large projects. The lack of APIs didn’t help either.

Most third-party antiviruses cause more problems than viruses do in my experience. They tend to hook into system calls and slow down the computer in hard to diagnose ways. Sometimes they don't implement the hooks correctly and cause su

The mistake is thinking about hours instead of output. The notion of full-time comes from the factory model, where your output is a function of the time you spend working. For knowledge work, we have known this is not the case for a very lo

Argentinian here: Ohh... my sweet summer child. Anyway, it's not really that important unless it changes in value suddenly without giving you time to adjust.

These are all latin-style words, there are much worse horrors in english importing them. One of my favorites is "ingenuity", used as being clever or inventive. It share the root with "ingenuidad" in spanish, which means

At my company, we usually do the more in-person interview, but if we suspect you have potential and your performance is negatively impacted by the stress of the interview process, we propose a project interview to wrap up the decision. Sinc

The problem result is not the goal of the exercise, I don't care if you solve it, but rather how you approach it. Note that I don't use puzzle problems, but more open-ended ones that elicit discussion and architectural approaches

I follow both, US and Argentinean politics, given that I live in Argentina, and my livelihood depends on the US (I've worked for American companies for the past 20 years or so).

I think the chance of detecting another civilization right now is rather slim. Maybe in a couple thousand years. I'll try to explain my reasoning. First, a few assumptions: - Life and intelligence are physical processes. Given the star

No. The site is no more than an HTML flyer. No user data or anything of value. Minimal external access (http, https and SSH), so the attack surface is very small. Even if I lost it, I can rebuild it from scratch in under an hour.

I love Linode. I've been running a small site for 10 years or so, I can't remember any significant issue. I've had uptimes of years, broken by me updating something on the host. For example: 04:12:41 up 157 days, 9:47, 1 us

Javascript needs copious amounts of ram when wielded by close to average developers. Since we cannot inflict the pain on the ones that have the most tools to do something about it, end users end up paying for the inefficiency.
