Learn C. Specifically learn pointers and memory management. Just these two concepts will give you a huge understanding of any other language.

If a stack grows down how do you generally draw it on paper? Do you start with some arbitrarily high address like 8000000 and just subtract from it? What happens when you get to 0?

This is super cool! I can imagine loading a web page in the next few years and hearing my GPU fan kicking into turbo and wondering what damn website is sucking up all my GPU cycles.

I have to give wired props for this. Most people would just pull the articles and sweep it under the rug. Keeping the article up but putting a big disclaimer at the top isn't too bad: http://www.wired.com/2016/02&#

I don't know. I consider this actually a good thing that we continue to push the envelope of technology. Yes it is technically difficult now to add a supercap. But who knows? Enough research and we might be able to do it easily. A lo

Well that is scary. I personally don't check ISO checksums and signatures very often. Probably the only time I do is when I sometimes get install errors and wonder if I got all the bits and if anything got corrupted.

One of the reasons you need to pick hosted services very carefully is just this type of scenario. Especially when you are deciding where your data lives. I give a tremendous amount of respect though to the Parse team for open sourcing the s

About 6 months ago I looked for a an alternative to a MacBook. Price was not a factor. I came from an old thinkpad T400. Keyboard was great. What I wanted was a damn trackpad that was awesome. I spent a lot of time in different stores tryin

It is very common to send $0 invoices. Some instances I can think of are receiving replacement goods / tracking if a service was rendered but not billable / making sure an account is zero'ed and you are fully paid up / e

I don't see any false statements being made that would result in a slander lawsuit. I don't think your company has a leg to stand on. There is no confidential information being released.

Ah user agents. One of my favorite quotes: "And then Google built Chrome, and Chrome used Webkit, and it was like Safari, and wanted pages built for Safari, and so pretended to be Safari. And thus Chrome used WebKit, and pretended to

Heroku is without a doubt one of the more expensive options out there. SSL being billed per month? Yikes. SSL really should be standard.

A lot of people are calculating the cost of the book based off of MSRP and discounting it. However am I the only one that thinks he might consider selling the book above MSRP? In a way buying a book from here is an experience.

In a way it isn't insane to try and break current RSA encryption. We know if you throw enough cpu cycles at it you will eventually succeed. What is more interesting is if we come up with a new method to break it and I would totally be

Freaking amazing. Setting up a point to point wireless link is no small feat, let alone in 2002 where the hardware was much less available. Good cinematography as well. I wonder what kind of hardware they are using today.

There was a great deal of political change in China during the 1900s. Even though I've read and studied about it I still find it difficult to comprehend how far reaching some of those actions were. I find it refreshing to read accounts
