This is a really good blog post. I find it very neutral even when the author happens to be the one who created Redis. What I really like about both pieces of software is that they are dead simple to set up. If I were to make a decision toda

I've never had to write a RTS game but fp determinism sounds like a nightmare. I can imagine someone clicking a button and not having it do the same thing every time. I'd be cursing the platform all the way down.

Any chance you could let me click on a cell in the game of life in the background to add another cell? That would surely result in lots more time wasted on that page :)

Is there anyone using Heroku that wishes they didn't start out using it? A lot of my friends in hacker schools end up using Heroku which I think is great but later on don't understand how to really deploy an application outside of

Love this. Sometimes testing can be a huge pain in the ass. I know more than one project I work on where getting them to run is a lot of effort in itself. There is something to be said about code quality and having tests run in under a few

Holy that is a lot of storage in a very small amount of space. Besides the fact that I want one right now I am starting to wonder how much heat this will generate. A lot of 1 unit rack servers can fit about 8 2.5" drives. 128TB of sto

Does anyone else think there is an opportunity for an easier to work with chat/text program? Ideally it would have a semi open infrastructure like IRC. I would design it with less functionality than XMPP. The clients would be closed so

This is a great example of where usability and security meet. Auto downloading MMS messages is certainly much nicer from a UX perspective. However it can lead to bugs as we are witnessing. I think they struck a good medium.

I don't think the single developer argument should be too much of a concern in an open source project. I saw Michael of ffmpeg had a lot of commits. In my experience with both closed and open sourced projects this is usually the case.

So basically someone (who was probably getting paid by the DoD) scp'ed some info to a server he/she wasn't suppose to. This more like a breach of standards. At least they know where the data went. The OPM breach is far worse.

It is kind of scary how good the attackers are getting at exploiting code. It must take a considerable amount of work to get proficient in analyzing and exploiting some of this code.
