This article is built on a bunch of assumptions and stereotypes which is terribly ironic given the subject matter. Some of it may be true but some of it just very wrong. Men can expect that their presence at an event won't automatically be

I don't mind the feel of a larger phone in my hand but I do find the larger size a distraction when it's in my pocket.

It's interesting because the commercial support of WebOS has built a pretty solid SmartPhone and tablet OS which puts it on somewhat equal ground as iOS or Android for now. I can't think of any other parallel where a somewhat competitive pl

I wonder if we'll reach the point where some SmartPhone/tablet makers start flirting with officially supporting multiple operating systems on the same device either to end users or carriers. I can think of a couple reasons why the carriers

This whole article just comes off as tech hipsterism to me. It's like being nostalgic for cassette tapes and conveniently forgetting how bad they sounded, how quickly they wore out, or how often a tape deck would ruin them for you. Put BeOS

Isn't this is just a basic feature of human nature? I'm pretty sure we once had cavemen sitting around the fire grunting/bragging about their awesome hunting skills while other cavemen felt jealous, anxious, or depressed about their own ski

This article is obviously written from a developer's perspective but as an end user my problem with Android is simply that I have yet to find any device I enjoy using. I enjoyed WebOS, unfortunately it was limited by subpar hardware, and I'

Just my personal preference. I don't want or need my SmartPhone to pretend to be a computer. I already have a computer. A SmartPhone just needs to do the most common tasks as efficiently and trouble free as possible. Being as it's a SmartPh

They probably don't expect many people to rush out and replace existing HDTVs. If they get into that market they'll probably do it for the long term. When you're shopping for an Ultra HDTV in the future there will be an Apple model for you

As others have mentioned the back button is kind of a nightmare. Rarely a day goes by I don't accidentally back my way out of an application. That sends me to a long-hold on the Home button to find the application again and sometimes this i

Android is too chaotic for my tastes. The conservative simplicity of iOS just works better for me. I would be more inclined to give WP7 a chance than another Android device at this point.

People aren't writing novels on their SmartPhones. The typed input from a normal volume of text messages, e-mails, and URLs is actually pretty minute when you think about it. Certainly it would be compressed before being uploaded to their s

Not absolutely safe but safer. It's partly an illusion but I've never had a third party iOS app break my phone. I don't get notification bar ads. I feel pretty safe installing different apps from the App Store. So that's something at least.

There are definitely angry nerds out there but they are in a position of arguing against a better user experience for the vast majority of people who don't want to have malware, a broken OS, their personal data stolen, etc. They should be t

That may be true to some degree but I think for younger people especially piracy is a simple act of frugality. A crime with no perceivable victim that saves you a fair amount of money. Kind of a twisted over entertained version of stealing

If a device has the same form factor and approximately the same price I'd say it's in the same category by most standards. If part of Google's plan is to get ChromeBooks down to $99 or maybe $199 then it might be successful.

Android is a huge step forward from feature phones while ChromeOS is a huge step backwards from real PCs. It's almost the exact opposite of Android in many ways. Android is probably the most capable SmartPhone platform in a booming market.

Common failing of tech writers/bloggers/enthusiasts. A few hundred dollars is of little concern to us. For the average person $300 is a huge difference. They might be scared away of a no-name brand but with Amazon's logo on the thing they w

The latency of text messages is what killed Google Voice for me. You just can't rely on it and it's really confusing to ask people to text you on one number and call you on another.
