Here in NL the tide is slowly turning in favor of adding more nuclear to the mix. It's getting increasingly clear that wind and solar alone are not going to cut it, after the low hanging fruit has been picked. There's simply no sp

Oh, wow. It's always impressive to see how a slow wave of rising internet buzz suddenly peaks and affects change in an impenetrable multinational organization. Hurray! :)

You could perhaps keep using your receiver with a HDMI switch and a HDMI audio extractor. Like these two: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4000102712226.html https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32850215019.ht

Editor looks great, very performant! Is there a way to integrate this in an existing webapp? E.g. open pixlr in a new window, do some edits, get the asset back?

Nice article. Cement’s climate footprint is really big though, so we should be using it in construction much less than we’re doing now. Glulam is the future.

I picked up a maxed out 2016 MPB right when it came out, including 2 LG 5K displays. I suffered random total system crashes with those external displays connected. After going through three repair cycles Apple replaced mine with a brand new

Great. I disabled safe browsing probably back when it first appeared on my iPhone 3G or 4 and this test confirms I’m still not sending urls to anyone whilst surfing on my iPhone 11. Nice job preserving these settings over countless device u

If you're looking at tiny boards, then I'd check out the ESP32 based boards right now. Cheaper. Personally, I think the R-pi Zero is quite attractive due to its lower barrier of entry. Also, consider creating your synth/audio

You can use Objective C on the audio thread just fine in practice. Just don’t call out.

Yeah, that’s a good way of looking at it. Note that a typical modern solar panel is around 285-340 watt these days.

I think synthetic fuel from renewable energy (electricity + water + co2 from the air) is a better way to go. Much less complexity in the plane.

Looks nice! What about self hosting? I’d copy the Gitlab model. Open source community edition, and a quite pricy Enterprise edition that is full of features that only larger companies need (compliance stuff, audit trails, fine grained permi

I was wondering about this the other day. In NL, insulation has been part of the building code for ages. With stronger requirements every decade or so. Insulated windows have been required since the 80ies for new houses. Now it’s triple pan

This will be solved when in-display cameras become ubiquitous. Probably the entire display will be the camera, without a lens obviously. Using some nifty algorithms you can construct a focused image from that. It'll just be a layer ins

Nope. Me too. My 2018 MBP 15" is my dream laptop. The machine I've always wanted. Superfast. Light to carry everywhere. Comfy to work with on the couch. Connects to 2 5K displays at my desk. Even the speakers are decent. The 2016&

This looks like a nice box. Powerful, super cheap! Perhaps a bit thermally constrained though. On a similar note, I picked up a Gigabyte GB-BLCE-4105 a couple of months ago. Very small box with a quad core J4105 Celeron CPU. Tiny fan. Add

The Skarsta is cheap and fine. When you go to Ikea they tend to wobble, because about a month after assembling them you need to tighten the bolts once. Done. At home, I customized my Skarsta a bit. Bigger top (200CM wide versus 160CM, 70CM
