Incremental forward-only migrations (non-state based). Then, for the How and When, it mostly depends of your constraints and sizes. There's no silver bullet, it's hard, it require constant thinking, it's a slow and often mul

For local development, I cannot recommend lnav[1] enough. Discovering this tool was a game changer in my day to day life. Adding comments, filtering in/out, prettify and analyse distribution is hard to live without now. I don't th

Looks really nice and well integrated. I'm a bit surprise to not see any mention of soft body. Does any one know if they've implemented the "small step" paper as well?

I was diving into your code and noticed you were using golang-migrate for running your migration queries. I never heard of it before and the number of databases they support sounds interesting! How was the experience overall with this tool?

I didn't mean to be rude or anything like that. You are probably right, seeing all these positive opinions, there must be value in there. I'm just amazed by the reactions on this post. From the HN crowd I was, wongly, expecting ve

I'm a bit surprised by the comments here. Looks like people really find LLM useful for their day to day work. I'm surprised because I (maybe natively) thought the level of hallucinations in these tool was too prohibitive to get re

I only use it for fun, just to see how it would respond to a particular question. At the moment, I can't find a serious use case for me. I find it really hard to guide the AI in the direction I want or requires extra work I'm not

Could you give examples of problems you encountered with this approach? The only issue I can think of comes from ignoring the error. You get the same problem with Rust's Result btw. Static analysis helps in this regard, golangci-lint c

Is it legal in the US to send patient data to a third party service? In the context of a scientific study, with explicit patient agreement things are different of course. But I haven't seen any of that in the article.

I can't agree more on this. Most products out there with medium to low traffic can be handled just fine like this. The cost of automation is often not worth the financial effort. There's a dangerous trend in putting microservices

Yes but that's because it's an immediate mode renderer. It feels intuitive and that's why it's the de facto standard for building debug tooling. But this intuitiveness comes at a price! No matter how hard you try, this w

It's not about fast delivery, at least not in this way. Arguably if you need mTLS, traffic shaping, cross service observability, service discovery... Then yes, it's much faster to use an existing solution than built it yourself.

Out of curiosity, was it something built internally? Or were you relying on a public solution?

In most implementations this is not the case. Service Meshes tend to either follow a sidecar or a DaemonSet approach. You don't have a single proxy, people usually complain about the exact opposite.

There is one clear benefit to me. Targeting native platforms allow the use of RenderDoc or equivalent. This is of a tremendous help when debugging or profiling. I've been working on a realtime softbody simulation in WebGPU for a while.

They rely on 9 trusted validators, the hacker managed to get access to the private keys of 4 out of the 9 validators. What's the point of using a Blockchain if you end up centralizing validations like that?
