There are multiple uses for keys. I've published a key so that people can verify the signatures on some software releases. I don't expect anyone to try sending me an email encrypted with that key. And I really wouldn't expect

It seems to say that under some circumstances a phone will report its location (indirectly over an e2e encrypted network) to the owner of a bluetooth device that's in range of the phone. It doesn't say that the phone is constantly

That doesn't seem like an accurate paraphrase at all. The article says nothing about polling constantly, nor does it make any kind of suggestion that polling constantly is what makes it secure.

This is content marketing. Rule number one is to find some kind of angle that can generate viral engagement no matter how thin the actual content is. Outrage tends to be a good hook. Acknowledging something as a hard problem, not so much.

Yes, but what does any of this have to do with TTL? Are you maybe confusing IP packet TTL with DNS record TTL?

This proposal isn't meant for preventing scraping, and isn't useful in any way for that. The only TPM operations that it makes available are: 1. Create a new keypair on the client, and register the public key with the server. 2. R

What's so confusing about it? This team did a lot of work to create JPEG XL. For whatever reason, Chrome is not agreeing to ship it, which will make it a lot harder for it to be widely adopted. So they're now applying the same tec

First, this is work by the team that co-designed JPEG XL. Second, as far as I can tell this is a JPEG encoding library, producing JPEG files that any existing JPEG decoder will be able to read. Nobody is being asked to support or maintain a

The numbers from the article are 422k deliveries in Q1 2023, 386k in Q1 2024. That's down by almost 10%, not up.

I don't think that's a good analogy. In chess, there's no question of how a move will resolve. You might not be able to predict the future consequences of the move, but every single player will always know without error what

Congrats on both launching and on the unique game design. This desperately needs a attack result preview, or if that's too hard at least a "you're starting an attack you'll lose" warning of some kind. The combat res

No. To repeat: the client is sending a pure ACK with no data. You can see that packet with a 0 byte payload length in the screenshot. That packet is also getting lost; if it weren't getting lost, we'd be receiving a SYNACK.

I mean, yes, that was my instinctive response based on just the title. It's always the MTU. But in this case the packet that's being lost is a pure ACK.

I would have thought every server maker was able to sell every GPU they got their hands on at this point in the hype cycle. If SuperMicro is gaining market share, isn't it just a sign that Nvidia is giving them a bigger GPU allocation?
