Casually building a django db backend as an acceptance test. Nice work and great write up! I had déjà vu reading the section on bind parameters in aggregate queries. The oracle backend had a similar issue that was fixed/hacked by compa

They have! With Twitter Blue (Canada + Australia only, $4/month or something) you can edit tweets within a short window. Imagine - a $4/m edit button. What a joke.

This is just the first article in the series. I'd recommend reading all 4 articles before rebuking this one. https://jacobian.org/series/estimation/ For example, here's an except from the SWAG article: &

There can absolutely be moral disagreements but it's not a given. That's probably the main point contested in this thread - that not all politics is about thinking the worst of your opposition. Certainly it happens, but it'

Disconnect the statement from actual politics and think about the concept in a more local setting. Here's a somewhat contrived example. There are two engineers in your company trying to work out the best way to reduce the rate of bugs

Yeah there’s an argument for that. I think it’d hold more weight if narrow, specific, and loosely defined duplicate questions were allowed - but they aren’t. Questions and answers belong to the community. I think the accepted answer should

An idea I've had for a long time is that "the community" can vote to override an accepted answer. There are many times when the accepted answer is incorrect, or a newer answer is now more correct, but the only person who can

There are risk services out there. https://sift.com/ Is one you call out to that gives you a risk score. https://datadome.co/ can sit within your cdn layer that does risk assessment.

To many in the core team, for one. It’s a cutesy easter egg at best not a mission statement. I’ve read the pep. The nature of peps are complete by design. The concept is not overly complex especially since it exists in a number of other lan

Appealing to nothing but the zen of python is not an acceptable argument. Pattern matching is not (necessarily) extremely complex as it exists in a multitude of languages these days. Powerful does not automatically imply complex.
