The survey shows nearly 20% of respondents experienced some kind of harassment or assault and your only comment is “what about men?”. I’m sure if men within YC experience this kind of behaviour they can use the same reporting tools on bookf

Maybe because 10% on a server is much more valuable than 10% on a client. On a server, you’re paying for that 10%. On a client, you’re not. If it was 10% for nearly free then sure - but maintaining a separate implementation of a language is

Yes agencies like to spy. Do they have a camera in every house in America? Again, I’m not saying they wouldn’t or wouldn’t like to. But saying “they do EVERYTHING post-Snowden” isn’t a very good argument, and definitely isn’t a fact. And if

The claim made was that they do. You don’t get to say that without providing evidence. You can say they might be, but that’s a different claim. Also, capabilities matter. I have no doubt if they could they would. The Snowden revelations mai

I dont think this is true. I don’t believe there is any evidence that the US government is analysing all emails hosted by all US companies. Rather, if the US government asks for a particular individuals emails the provider must grant the re

Either it’s a conspiracy or it is not. If there are a bunch of people running down the street, and I see that they’re running from a fire, then I’m going to run too. That is not a conspiracy. The decision is independent even if the reason i

A conspiracy implies all of these companies .. conspired, rather than independently reaching a conclusion that supporting this fellow with their services was bad for their own business.

I find the response weird because the commenter had an unwillingness to do free work for a company yet publishes a package that fixes their mistake.

This is a strange response. Reporting a bug is likely easier than creating and maintaining a package. It’s also the better solution for users, rather than getting website operators to install yet another lib and then remember to remove it o

I could imagine a library of transformers being created using this tool. For instance we’ve just enabled the pep3101 Flake8 plugin which enforces newstyle string formatting over % formatting. I’d love to see a transformer that automates tha

But can’t AWS pay RedisLabs for those modules? That’s exactly what RL are after - a cut from the big hosting providers. If the demand is there (for the modules) then you’ll be able to license them via AWS.

Troy doesn't really have that many positions on security matters other than "as an operator of a website, you must offer HTTPs". Is this the topic you're referring to?

How does Faust work with Django? There’s a mention on needing gevent or eventlet to bridge, but nothing about how you’d integrate the two. I’m assuming the entrypoint would need a django.setup, and then you’d import the modules that had the

It really serves a different audience/purpose. Poetry replaces setup.py which is mostly used for building libraries. You still need to create your own virtualenv. Pipenv replaces requirements.txt and handles the virtualenv for you. It
