I agree with everything that you said, except the part about windows explorer slowdowns being fixed. I still find it to be an order of magnitude slower than Gnome's file manager for simple cases. I understand some of the reasons why th

I remember that. It seems like there were some restrictions that held back performance in OtherOS mode, though. It was too bad that they didn't keep it up.

That is a good point... I bet there is nothing else as powerful at the price point either. It would make an excellent Linux media server.

I disagree, but only because that order will get turned into a large pizza with all pepperoni pretty regularly. Modifiers get lost on phone orders very regularly.

To be fair, engineering dialogue brings out concerns like this on many major programs. The lawsuits happen on the ones where the concerns turn out to have disastrous consequences.

To be fair, Tesla has some pretty nasty holes that are actually well covered by CCS. In South Carolina, I26 is completely uncovered by Tesla between Asheville and the coast. There are multiple CCS chargers along the same route. I sometimes

The idea of swapping batteries comes up from time to time, and I used to be a big fan of the idea as well. But over time, I've developed a lot of doubts. It adds a significant amount of complexity, it adds logistics challenges, and it

Yeah, that definitely happens from time to time. Here is a pretty famous case from recent history: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-02-24/trump-ass...

It isn't always that simple. The government sometimes discloses such information intentionally with an agreement that the briefer's name is not disclosed.

Honestly, I think you underestimate how much of a distribution and fulfillment network Sears had at their peak. It is easy to imagine way for them to have transitioned to the internet, offer similar delivery speeds to Amazon. But to do so w

Yeah, this has been so predictable. There are a lot of people who seem to feel like Tesla's accomplishments are trivial, but the reality is that building cars is hard. Building them at any kind of scale (even tens of thousands a year)

I personally know of a recent fatal that likely wouldn't have happened even with the (garbage) ADAS in my current car. There are plenty of good reasons to think that pre-programmed computers can outperform human drivers in the cases th

I get that there are examples of companies that moved from bicycles to cars (or planes), but I doubt there are recent examples. It is much harder to enter the mature automotive market, which is what makes Tesla's accomplishments extrao

I think the storage space figure for the Bolt is a bit theoretical. Its storage area is tall, but otherwise a relatively small area behind the rear seats that would be difficult to fully utilize. Standing next to them makes the difference i

To be fair to self driving cars, none of the vehicles being tested are Waymo vehicles. There are obviously some that are much farther along on this than others.

The Bolt is not $20k less than a model 3 in the US. But more importantly to me, it is really really tiny compared to a model 3. I feel like many of the comparative reviews fail to mention this.

Porsche has 250 kw, just like Tesla does on the LR Model 3. But supposedly Porsche will soon have 350 kw. The real metric is miles added per minute, though, and I haven't really seen an apples to apples comparison there.

No, there's a common "short" theory that Tesla somehow reports GAAP gross margins in a way that is radically different from the rest of the industry. I've never seen any evidence that had any merit for this claim.
