Yes, but "too much battery for car" is subjective. The Mach-E has more range than its closest competitors, so they could have used fewer cells and remained competitive.

I don't know why he used the term "efficient batteries". I don't really know what that means and basically agree with you. Ford doesn't have great driving efficiency, but it doesn't matter as they've solve

Ok, I'll be more specific. Using the word "horse" is like calling other medications that are used on people and dogs as "dog" medicine. The qualifier is not necessary. Truthfully, they should just call it ivermectin

That seems hard to believe, tbh, but now I'm really bothered that I don't have any definitive source. But "high 5 figures" would be >50k. According to this: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news

That doesn't necessarily seem like a terrible sum, if the jobs are sustainable and the 2k is a lower bound. OTOH, it seems likely the jobs would be created there without this payment, so why do it?

They should, but people here are afraid that this looks like a government overreaction that won't actually find an accurate result. IMO, they are wrong and this will likely lead to guidance for all automakers, including Tesla. I doubt

To be fair, the person you are responding to may not like those other systems either. All the articles with industry analysts insisting that other driver monitoring systems are nearly perfect have sometimes blinded me to that fact. A lot of

Next month there won't be any shipments and we'll get articles about their epic sales collapse. :)

Oh, I agree and I have nothing against the subsidies getting scaled back over time. The issue is that it makes cost cutting in the industry less effective, as the savings don't always get directed to the buyer's bottom line. I thi

I've noticed that effect, but I don't think the problem is on the installer side. A big part of the cost for them is the "soft costs" and a part of that is dealing with sometimes intransigent personnel at power companies

> Are we nearing any tipping point where local solar becomes a “big thing”? Probably not, tbh. Its getting a lot cheaper, but its really possible that subsidies will start getting smaller along the same time. In my area, rules to force u

Yeah, it is an important detail. But it'd be nice if we had some more details available, like whether or not it was common to have to override the car. I'd expect that might be common at these crossings, and they may have found a

Yeah, that situation was worse. American Express had a partnership called ISIS and issued cards under their "Serve" brand. They literally said "serve isis" on the front. That name had to change. I don't think the st

Some vehicles use a white noise that sounds almost like the vehicle fans. I think this works pretty well without filling the area with useless beeps.

I've used AP in some situations where I was having a hard time clearly seeing the lines due to the rain. It held up pretty well, with me only very rarely intervening (from memory, 2 times in 100 miles). It probably helped that I slowed

That still does TACC. He wants cruise control without TACC. That is not possible in any modern Tesla, AFAIK. I believe the most recent to offer it was the Model 3 SR, which is no longer available. The SR+ and the Y SR both included AP with

With just regular autosteer, absolutely nothing. Generally speaking, I'd expect the same response out of Nav on Autopilot with the "Enhanced AutoPilot" or "Full Self Driving" features.

I'm trying to think of weird edge cases, but yeah it does seem like the odds are against AP being on in this case. Maybe TACC was on, but even that seems a little inconsistent with the report.

Exactly... and turning on a signal completely turns off autosteer if in base autopilot. Not sure if it could be coerced into automatically coming back on if the car had FSD and the signal was turned back off, though?

▲
by

Sure, but there's two issues here. The turn signal is on in the other direction. Activation of the turn signal in base autosteer will disable autosteer. Activation of the turn signal in more advanced modes (Nav on Autopilot) will resul

That's possible, but the article said that it changed lanes to the left while signaling to the right. That rules out having NoA enabled with "confirmationless" lane changes.

Literally as written, this sounds like a medical emergency. From the article: "It had its right turn indicator on, but it drifted slowly to the left, into my lane, before slowly going back into its own lane." For this to have happ

I'm glad I'm not the only one annoyed by the "it doesn't work the way _you_ think" phraseology. How dare they assume how I think? :) Its a pet peeve, I guess.

As someone who has seen and driven their "pro" pilot competitor, I am not bothered by that. The non-beta competitors are often worse and sometimes more dangerous (sigh).

I completely agree. I was pretty critical of them when they were just a tiny slice of Arizona, but going from n to n+1 is really major progress. The fact that the +1 is a city as complex as SF is a really good sign as well. If they can hand
